There was soft rustling then Max finally came out of hiding. He sat up on his bed and avoided eye-contact. Rayne’s eyes widened. Laughing was the furthest thing from his mind. Rayne found himself left speechless by the sight, which worked out well for someone who didn’t talk very much in the first place.
