Summary
The Federation’s relationship with the Dominion teeters on the brink of open hostility, while the Cardasssians and Klingons rattle sabres at each other, and the Romulans plot from the shadows. Starfleet Command is divided, and paranoia about the changeling threat is as insidious as it is pervasive.
Will Riker, based on DS9, faces the unenviable task of building a Starfleet Military wing from scratch while keeping to the Federation Charter - and all the time his father-in-law, Fleet Admiral Edward Janeway, seeks to undermine Will’s authority.
Meanwhile, Kathryn Janeway just wants to focus on her research on the Bajoran wormhole, but she keeps being dragged into astropolitics, whether by inadvertently supporting her friend, Jadzia, in upending Trill social mores, or getting caught up in Starfleet Intelligence’s plans.
~*~
If you haven't read the rest of the series, you can jump in here! This story plot-heavy, but with plenty of Janeway/Riker romance, and a side helping of Dax/Kahn for good measure. As usual this story deviates from the timeline; many events of DS9 still occur, but they’ll diverge from canon considerably (more so than previous entries in the series).

Summary
Or: 5 times Julian watches Miles die (and 1 time he doesn't)
A 3x17: Visionary remix, in which Julian is stuck in a time loop - and keeps being unable to save Miles from dying. Will he allow himself to accept the comfort of his friends? Will he blame himself in a dizzying spiral of self-hatred? Will he ever be able to save Miles? Will anyone else die?
He supposed he’d never been able to imagine his friends actually dying. Not really. Yes, he’d pictured it - and not just in nightmares, after the worst missions: he had tried to prepare for the worst. He just, well, had always included his own death in any worst-case-scenario daydream. Being unable to save one of his friends while they were on DS9, when they were in the infirmary, while they weren’t even under attack - the thought had never crossed his mind. And he was left to deal with the fact that he wasn’t ready to deal with it at all.
Posting weekly on Tuesdays!

Summary
Bashir and Dax are traveling with two young refugees when the younger of the two becomes dangerously ill.
This is one of the first DS9 stories I wrote, when A Man, Not a Monster was still in the early working stages. As a result, references back to that story may not exactly match events as I ultimately had them play out.

Summary
Doctor Julian Bashir finds himself drawn to Garak, the mysterious tailor of Deep Space Nine. Despite his initial reservations, their interactions evolve into a tentative camaraderie.
Intrigued by Garak’s intellect and charmed by his wit, Julian is captivated by the glimpses of the truth that shine through his carefully constructed facade. Yet, Garak remains an enigma, his true feelings concealed.
As time passes, Julian’s admiration for Garak deepens into something more; a profound and unspoken longing that he struggles to contain.
Julian wonders if he can almost see a reciprocation in Garak’s feelings towards him. But will he ever have the courage to reveal the depth of his own feelings, or will a future together remain a tantalizing, unattainable dream, forever just beyond the horizon?

Summary
If he can’t find a joke, he can perhaps find some truth in Garak’s claim.
He starts examining Garak’s head with the tricorder again. He ups the sensitivity, presses the device against every little cranial crevice, stands at different angles, resets it when it gives him the same results again and again. Not a trace of any kind of dangerous foreign body. It would be easier for Garak to be correct, for this conspiracy he’s continuing to describe to the group to be true. Because then Julian could find some kind of solution to solve the issue, by force if necessary.
But this is not an issue he can brute force his way through.
So he tries to make what he needs to be true a reality, looks over and over again. He tries to force a peg into the wrong hole. Is that what Garak is doing too?
———
In which Julian takes Garak’s claims about Starfleet Intelligence implanting a neural transponder in his head a little more seriously

Summary
Some people believed in fate. Others dismissed it as a silly superstition and attempts to find meaning where there was merely coincidence. Yet others considered it a useful suggestion and tended not to look a gift horse in the mouth, or treated the matter with pure logic and science and did not always abide by it.
Julian and Garak were both glad not to know who their soulmate was. No soulmate meant no liability. No one to inquire about their past. No one to complicate things.
Only, things did tend to get complicated anyway.

Summary
Julian Bashir has been running for years from a life he never chose, and has found himself part of a group he sees as more of a family than the one into which he was born. When his past catches up to him and his chosen family is left cursed, only Julian can complete the task that will counter the enchantment, a task that requires discipline, determination and endurance.
In the coastal town of Deep Sands, at the southern tip of the nation of Bajor, an exiled Cardassian with secrets of his own lives among people who barely tolerate him, but who still pay him well enough for his services as a tailor for him to make his living. When he finds a handsome, silent stranger in the wilderness near the town, gathering a plant most humanoids avoid direct contact with for very good reason, he is intrigued. The stranger is not Bajoran, seems harmless, and clearly understands his words well enough. What is such a one doing out here alone? And why is Garak inviting him to stay in his spare room? He really must be going soft.
