Tom Cruise Sells American Felt Building Condo For $3M

New, 14 comments

Tom Cruise has owned a unit in the East Village's American Felt Building since it opened in 1984, but he is now moving out. The Real Deal reports that Cruise is in contract to sell his 10th floor unit for $3 million. The building has 41 lofts with high ceilings, but the ceilings in Cruise's 2,200-square-foot unit have been lowered to just nine feet and no one really knows why (Because he's short? To make his ex-wives feel cramped? Scientology told him to?). There was no listing, nor were brokers involved in the sale, so there are no photos or floor plans available.

It was rumored that Cruise began house hunting in Westchester and Connecticut last summer, as he'd like something more secluded, preferably with a garage so he can avoid the pesky paparazzi. He already owns an 8,100-square-foot brownstone at 42 West 12th Street with ex-wife Katie Holmes (who has been living at the Chelsea Mercantile), so perhaps he's now permanently living there. Any intel is obviously welcome on the tipline.
