The police have closed their case investigating a video that went viral back in April, which showed a man nibbling the ear of a boy while on BBC broadcast.  Seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry was speaking during a break in play in BBC's coverage of the afternoon session when the disturbing moment could be seen in the background over his left shoulder. The man, relation unknown, appeared to whisper in the child's ear before proceeding to nibble on his ear with viewers left shocked.

Rishi Sunak today insisted he has 'absolutely not' given up on the general election after a senior Tory conceded the party could suffer a huge defeat. The Prime Minister said he was 'really energised' after outlining £17billion worth of tax cuts in the Conservative manifesto. The Cabinet minister warned it would be 'very bad news' for the UK if Sir Keir Starmer entered No10 on 5 July with 'unchecked' power. He added that Britain 'doesn't function well' when political parties enjoy victories similar to the size of Tony Blair's 179-seat majority at the 1997 general election.

It emerged he dashed back to London to do an interview with ITV's Paul Brand, before heading to an election campaign meeting - with ITV saying it was the PM's team who chose the timing. After it aired last night Mr Sunak's woes quickly intensified after he was pressed on how he could understand what it is like for British families battling the cost of living crisis given he is 'richer than the King'.

Angel Strawbridge has spoken out for the first time defending herself over the foul-mouthed rant that led Channel 4 to drop her as she explained she fell into a pre-laid trap. Franchesca Morgan lost her job at Arrowe Park Hospital, near Liverpool, after taking paracetamol and co-codamol without permission after feeling unwell during her shift. Now, a year and a half later, she's been suspended from the entire profession for the next six months. Miss Morgan was caught after covert surveillance, installed by police, recorded her taking the pills on two separate occasions, in June 2022, without getting written permission first. Police launched a probe after hospital bosses noticed prescription medication had been going missing. A tablet count was put in place at the end of each shift and a secret camera installed by police.

A convicted murderer who poisoned a married couple with fentanyl may have killed his own father and avoided detection, police fear. Luke D'Wit, 34, was jailed in March for life with a minimum of 37 years after he used the opioid painkiller to fatally poison Stephen and Carol Baxter in West Mersea, Essex. But in a bombshell update, detectives are now reviewing whether the convicted murderer was responsible for the death of his father, Vernon, who had been prescribed fentanyl before he was found slumped in a chair at the family home in 2021. Essex Police said officers 'will not hesitate to act' if they come across fresh evidence.

Dramatic new images have emerged showing the inside of one of El Salvador's brutal mega prisons where thousands of gang members are kept in cramped cells and watched 24 hours a day by masked guards. King Charles is 'not content' with just seeing Harry and Meghan Markle's children, Archie and Lilibet, over video calls, royal sources have revealed.  The monarch, who has been undergoing cancer treatment since February, told friends that he is 'keener than ever' to build a relationship with Archie, five, and Lilibet, two, royal sources told the Mirror.  He has only met the Sussex children a handful of times since they were born, and wants to 'make up for lost time', given the long-running falling out Harry has had with the rest of the royal family over their alleged treatment of his wife.

From May 31 to June 6, the TV drama (insets) - starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Gaby Hoffmann - has been watched for over 1bn minutes, beating Bridgerton and Dancing for the Devil to the top spot. The six-part psychological drama, which is set in 1980s New York, follows a desperate father's search for his missing nine-year-old son Edgar. As the show progresses, Vincent (who is the creative director of a puppet show seemingly inspired by Sesame Street) convinces himself that getting Edgar's blue monster puppet on the air will result in his son's safe return. However, the series - which has been dubbed an 'A+' by viewers - appears to share haunting similarities with a real missing child case that only came to a close in 2017.
