Deal watch: Hurtigruten puts Antarctica on sale

One of the leaders in cruises to Antarctica today kicked off a five-day sale on select voyages to the region.
Norway-based Hurtigruten is offering savings of up to 30% off regular fares on a range of 13- to 19-day sailings to Antarctica from Ushuaia, Argentina scheduled to take place between November 2014 and February 2015.
Sale prices range from $7,884 to $12,643 per person, based on double occupancy, and include travel on the line's 318-passenger Fram, all meals on board; overnight accommodations in Buenos Aires on the way to the ship; and flights between Buenos Aires and Ushuaia.
The offer is for new bookings only and cannot be combined with other offers except the Ambassador Discount available to members of the line's frequent cruiser program.
While the Fram can hold 318 passengers at double occupancy, it only sails to Antarctica with 200 passengers, in keeping with international rules that limit the number of passengers that can land in Antarctica at any one time.
More details on specific voyages included in the promotion and pricing are online at Hurtigruten's website.
Founded more than a century ago to carry freight and passengers along the Norwegian coast, Hurtigruten offers a wide range of cruises along the Norwegian coast as well as expedition-style trips to Antarctica, Greenland and the Arctic's Spitsbergen.
