Original 'Back to the Future' Stars Support Broadway Cast at Opening Night of New Musical!

The cast of the new Back to the Future musical is receiving support from the cast of the original movie!

Christopher Lloyd, Michael J. Fox, and Lea Thompson were all in attendance for opening night of the new Broadway show on Tuesday (July 25) at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City.

The three actors joined the Broadway cast Roger Bart, Casey Likes, Hugh Coles, Liana Hunt, Jelani Remy, Nathaniel Hackmann, Merritt David Janes, and Mikaela Secada on the red carpet.

After winning the Olivier Award for Best New Musical last year, Back to the Future: The Musical has transferred from London’s West End to Broadway. When Marty McFly finds himself transported back to 1955 in a time machine built by the eccentric scientist Doc Brown, he accidentally changes the course of history. Now he’s in a race against time to fix the present, escape the past and send himself… back to the future.

The film’s creators Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis worked together to adapt the movie for the stage and the show features music from multi-Grammy winners Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard alongside hit songs from the movie including “The Power of Love,” “Johnny B. Goode,” “Earth Angel” and “Back in Time.”

Lea Thompson Speaks Up About The Claims of Ellen DeGeneres' Mistreatment of Guests: 'True Story'

Lea Thompson is weighing in on the report that Ellen DeGeneres had been mistreating her guests that came onto her show.

Earlier in the day, Brad Garrett, who had appeared on the talk show six times, tweeted that the mistreatment is “common knowledge”.

“Sorry but it comes from the top ⁦@TheEllenShow Know more than one who were treated horribly by her.⁩ Common knowledge,” Brad posted after Ellen wrote a letter apologizing to her staff about the toxic environment on the set that was exposed during the recent weeks.

After seeing Brad‘s tweet, Lea weighed in on the matter, saying “True story. It is”, referring to the common knowledge among actors and entertainers.

Ellen‘s letter to staff members read as an apology and ensured that change would come.

“To think that any one of you felt that way is awful to me,” Ellen stated. “It’s been way too long, but we’re finally having conversations about fairness and justice. We all have to be more mindful about the way our words and actions affect others, and I’m glad the issues at our show were brought to my attention. I promise to do my part in continuing to push myself and everyone around me to learn and grow. It’s important to me and to Warner Bros. that everyone who has something to say can speak up and feels safe doing so.”

After the allegations were made, WarnerMedia launched an investigation into what is happening at the show.

Zoey Deutch Spills on Having Famous Parents, Bullying, 'The Politician,' & More

Zoey Deutch graces the cover of Net-a-Porter’s digital title, Porter!

Here’s what the 24-year-old Zombieland: Double Tap actress had to share with the mag:

On the important lessons her parents [Lea Thompson and Howard Deutch] instilled in her from a young age: “My parents valued a great sense of humor over a lot of other things that young girls are taught to value. The compliments were not ‘you’re pretty’, but ‘you made me laugh’. The positive reinforcement shaped me.”

On growing up on film sets: “You know, my first steps were taken on a movie set. My first word was ‘lipstick’, in my mom’s makeup trailer. It was a hundred percent my deepest desire [to perform].”

On her experience at school: “I had a terrible time in middle school. Just the worst. There were a lot of coughed insults when I walked down the halls, and there was some pushing and shoving, but mostly it was just people talking behind my back. Now I’m in a profession where everyone talks behind your back. But I rarely pay attention to it and I never do it to others. It’s none of my business what other people think about me, and I meditate on that mantra.”

On reading the script for The Politician for the first time: “It was the best pilot script I had ever read.”
