  • Place all ingredients except salt in a large microwave safe bowl.
  • Rice doubles in size during cooking so choose a container large enough to accommodate final product.
  • Microwave uncovered on high for 10 minutes.
  • Then microwave uncovered on medium-low for 15 minutes.
  • Do not stir rice at anytime during cooking process.
  • Season with salt and fluff with a fork before serving.

  1. I am a reasonably experienced cook, and I made this recipe and followed it to the letter. The rice came out with lots of hard rice grains in it. Any way to fix it?
     
  2. What is the better combination of ingredients? Water & butter, water & olive oil, broth & butter or broth & olive oil? Thank you!

  1. I've struggeling to find a way to fix steamed rice other than the stove top or rice cooker since I've been here in Beijing. I stared at this one for the longest time trying to decide if I should try it. First done in the microwave (NEVER would have thought that) and then UNCOVERED!!! Oh man am I glad I decided to give it a try. The only thing I did differant was cut the amount in half, and then followed exact including the timing and it was perfect. Nice and fluffy and perfect. Thanks so much for posting and I can truthfully say this is my new way to make rice from now on.
     
  2. I halved the recipe and it came out great. I just reduced the time a bit--8 minutes + 10 minutes. It came out nice and fluffy, which was a victory for me, the queen of sticky rice! ;-) Thanks for sharing.
     
  3. This rice came out perfect! I tweaked it a tad, I added a bit more organic broth, put a towel in microwave in case of over flow, cooked uncovered high 8 1/2min and covered at level 6 temp for 12min.
     
  4. Yeah yeah yeah~! Nothing else needs be said. (I used "4" as medium low and it worked great!)
     
  5. It was too hot to make stovetop rice for dinner, so we gave this a try. Turned out great! Actually, my teenager cooked the rice. Easy instructions, great results w/out heating up the house. Thank you.

  2. Trying out for first time! I halved the recipe instead of 2 cups of rice I used 1 cup, and instead of 3 1/2 cups of water I used 1 1/4 cups of water and no olive oil.
