I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of money Minecraft makes these days is from DLC, so going f2p would make a lot of sense. But given how cheap the game actually is ($30 for consoles/PC and $7 on mobile) I don't think it would make that much of diference.

VenomUK15d ago (Edited 15d ago )

If 50% of all kids buy just one copy of this game (made up number but not unrealistic as the game has become almost a rites of passage) then Microsoft is doing great by being paid for each copy.

StoneTitan14d ago

it would actually make no sense to go f2p.
If you can charge something for the basegame and people pay for it (obviously they are still doing it) then going f2p would be idiotic.

Vits13d ago

Puting a entry price on anything also reduces it potential player base and therefore its paying costumer for DLC. That mind you likely make the bulk of Minecraft revenue. That is basic business since at least a decade, so I would get in with the times.

And this is why they're cancelling all VR support after March. That absolutely sucks bc I honestly only really play bc of the VR mode. It really wasn't my thing until I felt the immersion.

UltimateOwnage15d ago

Agreed. VR makes MC so much better. Hopefully someone comes in with a mod.

About time. Now fix weather effects also. More snow, rain, Lightning etc.

Here's the next big update

A new mob

A reskin of another mob for a different biome

A new block that doesn’t have much use yet

A new wood type that only has the basic things you can craft with others coming later in a future update

Possible a new biome if we're feeling adventurous that is pretty basic, not a lot going on in it and won't have a unique village with a theme that resembles the biome as we're too busy trying to get one done for the last one or two biomes we add a while back (Cherry, Swamp, Mushroom, Birch, Pale).

However all the main work will be for a new Minecraft spin off which they will kill off within 4-5 years.

Inverno29d ago

4-5 years would actually be good, but instead they kill off their spin-offs within the year or 2. How can you complain about free content blah blah blahda but dayum the way Mojang works hurts my brain. They're creatively bankrupt but then they also just can't seem to stick to anything they do without half baking it.
