This Is What Next-Gen Titles Should Look Like – Skyrim Modded Looks Fabulous

DSOGaming writes: "You know what? The latest screenshots of THIEF looked quite good but still, they were not that different from what we’ve been playing lately. The same can be said about Call of Duty: Ghosts; a next-gen title that looks worse than a number of current-gen games. And while we are still waiting for the next batch of next-gen titles, we can all take a look at what Skyrim modded looks today on our platform."

The Landscape in Skyrim looks totally amazing, there's about 7-8 Mods that I have which makes everything like to close to being life like, it makes me want to live in Skyrim! lol.

Vegamyster3744d ago

My PC can't handle the crazier ones but even the basic ones that improve textures, add more vegetation and change the lighting make the game look so much better.

Mods make or break the replay-ability of some game. Even tho i havent played recently, my skyrim with what looks like real life mods running @30fps still serve to awe me at random times... lol. My graphics card is embarrassingly old @ gtx5XX (waiting on later this year when the real next gen pc hardware drops to get back in the game)

edit back in the game as in ...not talkin bout skyrim

mcgrottys3743d ago

the 5XX's as long as its is a 550 or better should be good for a while. Especially if it is a 560

Hi Mate,

I have way to many mods activated on Skyrim. Can you tell me the ones you have so I can try them out.

Would be appreciated.

Cheers

Problem with the realism ones like these is because they are mods and not hardcoded into the engine they take 10X the resources that they are supposed to which sucks as even with a quad card setup you would struggle to play it looking this good but tis great fro screenshots.

And this is why I love PC gaming. It's not about just having the latest and greatest at as high a fidelity as possible. It's just as much about digging into those past games and revitalizing them years and years down the road.

Agree Man I got the same😃 pc rules!!😃

_QQ_3744d ago

Nah man Mods are a myth /S
but being serious i'm not much of a skyrim fan but i wish witcher 2 had mods like skyrim, from what i hear it has a few that improves visuals but nothing like those hyper realism skyrim mods.

MadLad3744d ago

Neither am I, really. Skyrim is nothing but exploring and looting. That's fine, but that isn't an engaging rpg experience for me. I need something more focused on player choice and the story itself.
That said, as far as mods for Witcher 2 goes, I have yet to try that gameplay balancing mod that the one developer released a while back.
Should be interesting.
That said, I would like to see some graphical overhauls mods in the future. The game is still damn gorgeous, but there is always room for improvement.

Oschino19073744d ago

I agree and feel a similar way but I must ask why you make it a point to justify your purchase at every turn. I mean you only speak for a minority yet consistently argue for the masses.

Not everyone has the same pc, yet when it works for you it's the tops and otherwise it's ignored. Sorry if this seems personal but I try to take you seriously and to a degree value your opinion but it's hard when you act as biased as you do.

Not saying anyone here is perfect but damn do you border the line of narcissism and objectivity. This site seems like a constant pissing contest and it's like either you're A or B and we forget there is 24 other opinions.

Stop acknowledging the few and speak for the many. Fighting fire with fire only causes more burns...

MadLad3744d ago

Narcissist?
Check through my past comments. I am one of the most level-headed, openly 'omni-gamer' people on this site and only ever get at anyone when I am facing complete b.s. on their part.
I speak only for myself, having a fairly modern rig. It's not like I am going to say "A high-end rig is fantastic", then "Mid-range gaming is still pretty damn good" and "with a low-end rig, you can get a decent experience but there is definitely better options out there" every time I speak of my own experiences owning the first. I know what PC gaming is for me and speak of that. I am by no means "justifying" my purchase. I am simply speaking for it.
I am many things, but biased and narcissistic is far from anything close to defining me, I have to say.

nirwanda3744d ago

Can't see why Bethesda would rerelease this for next gen console with a lot of the mods and pay the modders a large percentage of the profit as a thank you for extending the life of the game on PC.
It's so much better than the attempts bigger publishers have done with tomb raider for instance.

HeavenlySnipes3744d ago

You need at least a medium-high PC to play Skyrik with Enva and 4k textures and have the game run smoothly

weirdo3744d ago

i didn't fall for skyrim's charms, sure it's a great game though. i'm really excited for witcher 3

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast22d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22922d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko22d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

The 7 Best Western RPGs: Immersive Adventures

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

SimpleSlave22d ago

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan22d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave22d ago (Edited 22d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
