This is fun issue of Guardians of the Galaxy, even if it's another one of these “talking head” issues that features lots of the characters setting up the status quo of the coming event. In case you have not heard, Guardians of the Galaxy is crossing over with All-New X-Men as the young Jean Grey is put on trial for the crimes her future self eventually commits. It's an odd setup, for sure, but this creative team has such a great handle on these characters, it's a treat to spend time in their world.

Brian Michael Bendis showcases his usual flair for characters and dialogue in this issue. We get a lot of Peter Quill and Gamora quipping and talking smart. Rocket Raccoon is sarcastic and snide. If you read any of the Guardians of the Galaxy issues that came before this one, you know exactly what to expect here. Same great characters, same story inching along. There's really nothing new to speak of. Still, it's good stuff and an entertaining read, no doubt.

Sara Pichelli is kicking ass. Even if you have no investment in these characters, no interest in this story and no desire to read a Bendis book (you have a bad attitude, you know that?), then you will still find something to enjoy here thanks to Pichelli. She draws some of the most expressive looking characters in the comics biz. If you have to have a book where a bunch of people stand around and talk for most of the time, then you should probably have Sara Pichelli draw it. She's top notch, a superstar in the making.
