French fry attack at McDonald's in France leads to scratched cornea

Although it’s a well-known fact that fast food poses some danger to diners’ waistlines, it apparently is a threat to their eyes as well.

During an incident earlier this month at a McDonald's in France, a woman suffered a scratched cornea after she was struck in the eye by a flying French fry. The injury caused her to stay home from work from 10 days.

The incident occurred when another patron became annoyed at the slow service at a McDonald's near the city of Bordeaux. The impatient customer tried to launch a French fry at a member of the McDonald's staff and ended up hitting the woman, a 24-year-old Vergt resident, in the eye.

After missing work, the woman decided to file a complaint with the police about the Jan. 17 incident.

A representative from the McDonald's did reach out to the victim to apologize.
