New Delhi:

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday addressed the All India Congress Committee (AICC) meet.

Talking about his party’s achievements, PM said, “We have committed mistakes, but we have always tried to learn from them. We are accused of not doing anything to control corruption, but I would say we have worked towards bringing transparency like no one ever did.”

“We have ensured employment to rural youth, done a lot in the education sector; around 11cr students are getting mid-day meals. Poverty has declined under UPA rule, recorded increase in agricultural productivity; took firm steps to ensure women safety and security.”

He added, “For 7 years we maintained a growth rate of 8%. Growth declined due to global meltdown, we aren't the only country which witnessed decline; other developing countries too faced problems.”

In his short speech, he also did not fail to thank Sonia Gandhi.

Singh expressed his gratitude towards Sonia Gandhi by saying that the commitment shown by UPA chairperson has benefited the government tremendously.

He also praised Rahul Gandhi and said, “Any victory in 2014 will be Rahul Gandhi's victory.”

“We didn't do well in recent Assembly polls, but there is no reason to be disheartened, rather we must introspect and help strategize better for LS polls,” he added.
