Attention Deadwood vets: You’re going to be busy as f@&# next fall.
Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that HBO is eyeing a Fall 2018 production start for the expletive-drenched drama’s long-in-the-works revival movie. A rep for the cabler declined to comment on anything about the project, which has yet to receive a formal green light.
Over the summer at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, HBO’s top programming exec, Casey Bloys, confirmed that the project was picking up steam. “The one thing that I was concerned about was I wanted a script that would stand on its own [for Deadwood fans and non-fans],” he said. “[Series creator] David [Milch] totally delivered on that. I think it’s a terrific script. If we can do it on a budget that makes sense for us, and if we can get the cast together, we’re inclined to do it.”
Paula Malcomson, who played “Trixie the Whore” opposite Ian McShane’s F-bomb spewing Al Swearengen on the beloved series, recently told TVLine that the two-hour continuation is “a big Valentine” to the pair. She also expressed confidence that despite a long and rocky development period, “I really think it will happen [this time]. And I would never say that. I’m usually the most cynical about these things.”
I’ll believe it when I see it. I certainly won’t be holding my breathe to actually seeing something being made. On a positive note, I have been wrong before, Curb your Enthusiasm came back! :)
Once agaIn, this is great but until they sign deals this doesn’t mean much.
I don’t understand why HBO just can’t go ahead a green light the thing.
Until that happens, I refuse to get excited.
I’ll believe it when filming starts. Also have to hope that nobody in the cast is a sex monster.
Never call Con Stapleton a monster!
the journalist was already outed as a pedo.
Absolutely can not wait. I loved this show and was so disappointed when it ended.
Can we guarantee Ian McShane saying “Welcome to @$&*@#$ Deadwood!” again, please?
Deadwood…everything about it…was spectacular. Looking forward to enjoying more. Thank you
Simply cannot wait. I keep re-watching the series again and again. It was completely packed with the best of the best character actors.
Loved Deadwood. Hope it comes back. Even a running movie series would be great
This is a one shot and done. Virtually all the actors that were on that show are working non stop on other projects. It’s a nightmare to get the schedules to line up.
Finally
YES YES YES!!!!!! MY FAVORITE SHOW SHOULD HAVE NEVER ENDED BRING IT BACK AND JUSTIFIED
Don’t I yearn for the days when a drop across the throat made f****** resolution! I really hope they bring this back.
Can they piggyback Deadwood production onto Westworld sets?
I want Deadwood back on. It was beutifully filmed, intensely, intelligently written, and i loved being there. Ready for more
Sooooo excited! Cannot wait!!
I never watched it originally but heard a lot of good things about it. I would certainly give it a shot this time around if the show comes to fruition.
It has to have Thimothy Oliphant or I won’t watch and believe me, I loved that series!!!
YAYYYY!! I still watch the old re-runs! I LOVE this show!
It would be great to have more episodes, as the ending of the 3rd season was hardly a way to close it out!
Please let this be true!!!
Please bring deadwood back. One of the best series I’ve seen. I’m tired of watching reruns. 😢
I use to Love HBO, years ago , when Deadwood, Rome & the Sopranos were still on air . I understand that a television show at some point, must reach it’s conclusion, but all three of these great shows left the fans with no closure. They just ended abruptly. Luckily, I have the box sets of all three shows. I hope HBO does the right thing and thinks about the fans before profits all the time . Bring these shows back, even if only as a mini-series , and wrap up the stories. I will be a happy camper..

Deadwood’s ratings tanked in the last season. The entire super-villain Hearst story line was over the top. Every major character was deeply exploitive and to use Hearst as some kind of catalyst to make them seem less so was just absurd.
The show died its own death due to virtue signaling in season 3 by its writers.
There is nothing for a movie version to do. It will be totally out of context for new viewers and for the original shows viewers who are now geezers it will also be what, a desperate attempt to sew things up in a bow when in reality and actual history of the place, all the players eventually danced to Hearst’s tune?
I was really upset that deadwood ended, it was the one show that held my interest, I loved westerns and they have gone by the wayside, now all we get are stupid zombie movies, I will be waiting with much interest, I hope that most of the cast will be available, timothy Oliphant and IAN McShane where great as western actors, here is hoping it happens
