The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Power Africa team has offered to support the Government of Ethiopia (GoE) through a collaborative effort with the Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) to establish a new electrification planning framework coupled with improved distribution design and construction guidelines to support accelerated electrification expansion. The first activity will focus on the steps required to prepare for implementation of electrification investments while the second activity will result in improved design and construction quality, improved quality of service, and more effective distribution expansion rollout. Modernization of electrification planning will occur through development and implementation of an integrated geospatial planning platform.
