Santa's Countdown to Christmas is a storybook consisting of twenty four chapters. Each chapter is supposed to represent the days of Advent in anticipation of Christmas.

The illustrations are cute and the story chapters tell the tale of how Santa, Mrs. Claus, the elves, and reindeer prepare for Christmas day.

Santa's Countdown to Christmas is meant to be read one day at a time, one chapter per day. That is a tall order for a child so I'm not sure whether it's possible. Though I suppose you could use an Advent calendar in conjunction with reading each chapter per day at bedtime.

Overall, a cute concept and story. I liked it. Three stars.

I received a digital copy of the book from Chouette Publishing/CrackBoom! Books through NetGalley. The review here in is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.

Santa’s Countdown to Christmas is a new twist on advent calenders. This book is a daily countdown until Christmas, with a story of how Santa is working hard to get everything done for Christmas. This is a really sweet book, and it’s is bound to get young children excited for Christmas – and to get on the nice list rather than staying on the naughty one.

This is a really inventive new way of doing an advent calender and I’m more than sure this is going to make some children very happy this Christmas. I will definitely be buying this for my cousin and using it to get him excited and more pro active about Christmas.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ -- A cute cover on this one!

This was such a cute book (even if Santa looks a bit like a maniac 😂). This is basically an advent calendar in book form. Each chapter represents one day and one task in preparation for Christmas. The illustrations are bright and colorful and I think this would make a really fun book to read to the little ones before bed.

The idea of Advent is to prepare for Christmas. This is exactly what Santa does in this book. Each day he has another task that either he, Mrs. Santa or the elves must do to get ready for the big night of delivering the presents. The idea is to read a short story (very short) of something that helps prepare them for Christmas. I would read this and then have my grandson open the day on the Advent Calendar. The illustrations are cute and will delight the little ones. A great addition to a family holiday library. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

Thank you NetGalley and Chouette Publishing, CrackBoom! Books for accepting my request to read and review Santa's Countdown to Christmas: 24 Days of Stories.

Author: Kim Thompson
Illustrator: Elodie Duhameau Wheeler
Published: 10/11/22
Genre: Children's Fiction

The illustrations are brightly colored and fun. The facial features and costumes are entertaining on their own.

The story tickled me. Seriously though, who would put Santa on a diet -- oops fitness plan, LOL. He is the one sacred fat man in this world.

The story was cute.

'Santa's Countdown to Christmas: 24 Days of Stories' by Kim Thompson with illustrations by Élodie Duhameau is a series of 24 short stories for each day in December.

Throughout the course of the month, we see Santa and his team getting ready for the big night. Elves are busy, Santa is working out, and the reindeer and sleigh are also getting ready. Santa has to review the naughty and nice list, and there is one special present he needs to find. Will it all get done in time?

The stories all span a couple pages, with most of the space being taken by illustration. The date is given on each page, so it could be a quick bedtime story leading up to Christmas. I loved the illustrations which have lots of little details. I also loved Santa's alliterative exclamations like 'jumpin' gingerbread!' and 'leapin' lollipops!' There are tons of those and they made me smile. This would be a fun pre-Christmas read.

I received a review copy of this ebook from CrackBoom! Books, Chouette Publishing, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

Santa's Countdown to Christmas by Kim Thompson, Illustrated by Elodie Duhameau was published on October 2, 2017 and is a book format of an advent calendar. Told from the perspective of Santa Claus, the storyline chronicles what Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, the elves, and the reindeer do in preparation of Christmas on each day of December leading up to Christmas Day.

I'd like to thank NetGalley and Crackboom! Books for giving me a copy of Santa's Countdown to Christmas in exchange for my honest review. I was thrilled to be approved to read this book because I love Christmas and am a kid at heart.

This picture book was well written and engaging. The illustrations were phenomenal as well. I even enjoyed reading it as an adult. I wish I had kids of my own so I could buy it for them, but I guess I'll have to settle for buying for family members and friends who have kids that believe in Santa Claus. I'd recommend this book for babies through eight years old. Reading this with kids on each day of December would make for a great tradition.

Five out of five stars is what I give Santa's Countdown to Christmas by Kim Thompson, Illustrated by Elodie Duhameau.

This is a great idea for the pre-Xmas weeks, a readalong for little ones that counts down the December days until Christmas. Like a bookish advent calendar. It's a fun tale of how Santa and the Elves get ready for all the excitement of delivering toys all over the world on Christmas Eve.

Santa has to get fit, plan his route, ensure more than a billion toys are made, and check over the naughty and nice lists, among other things. The illustrations are vivid, lively and fun, and elevate a kids' book where the text is pretty straightforward (no rhymes, rhythm or sing-song quality, and not much in the way of fun, unusual words to spark and hold kids' interest when read aloud).

A great idea, with great illustrations, that is let down a little by the text (including the choice of font and type-setting). Still a good book that might be fun to read to little ones as they not-so-patiently wait for Santa's arrival in December.

I love the idea of this book, 24 stories to read, one day at a time, leading up to Christmas. The stories tell of how Mr & Mrs Claus and the elves prepare for Christmas. The illustrations are delightful, but I foresee the problem with this book being the need to stick to one page per day. Reading books with children, half the fun for them is turning the page and looking at the next picture, so trying to get a child to focus on one page and that be it for the day, may be a little tricky! It's a lovely idea though.

Some bits of text are easier to read than others, i.e. black text on white background, whereas black text on blue is harder to read. A minor detail, but one that makes a difference.

Overall though, this is a great idea for the run-up to Christmas.

We loved Santa's Countdown and some of the words Santa used was great. "Twinklin Tinsel, Blisterin beards." Just to name a few. The book made is all laugh and for the boys to learn even though there is a naughty list, you can still have some great qualities that make Santa move you to the good list. And the special gift for a little boy who only asked for a toy for his little sister was priceless. A great read and wonderful illustrations.

I was planning on reviewing this one for Christmas, but after reading this one, I thought heck no. This one needs to be read before and until Christmas! It is like an advent calendar, just with stories instead of little presents or chocolate. XD Today, December 1st, is the DAY to get this book and start reading it.

OK, I didn’t read it a story a day, I just wanted to soak it all up, plus, I couldn’t wait. But for kids this one is perfect. The stories are bite-sized and perfect for a couple of minutes a day before bed (or at another more special time).

In this book we start at December 1st and go all the way to Christmas. Each day has a short story about an event happening during that day. From the preparations to tech-jinks from our Tek elf to getting fit and ready to go up on the roof to Rudolf getting a cold and there is much more. Each day counts down to the events and there is also another story that comes back most of the days, namely the wish of a little sad boy who didn’t want anything and is lonely. It is up to Santa to find a present so perfect it will make the boy smile again. I really head fun reading each story and seeing Christmas get closer and see more and more things get done. I do vote to get rid of the “How many more presents do we need to wrap” machine, good lord, that thing would give any sane person anxiety 100%. XD I loved seeing all the things that were happening at Santa’s place and I just want to sleep in those plushies, eat some yummy Christmas bakes, and also pet the reindeer. I just love how many things are the same for each Christmas Santa book, but yet there are always small details/differences.

I also loved seeing all the different elves. From the ones who bake to the one who makes Santa a bit more modern (though some things he should maybe test a bit more… and some things he shouldn’t forget).

The illustrations are just terrific. I really loved how Mr and Ms. Claus were drawn, but also the elves and the TON of details. The art is just so much fun and gives the book some extra sparks and glitter. There is so much to see on each illustration and I love the colours.

All in all, a perfect Christmas book and oh so much fun to read. Maybe I will just do a re-read from today on until Christmas! I wouldn’t mind that! Recommended to all looking for a fun and creative book with great art!

Thank you so much to Chouette/ CrackBoom! Books and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

Santa has a long list of things to do starting on the 1st December and must cross everything off with the help of his elves and Mrs. Clause. Each day Santa will count down and cross another thing off his list.

I love the creativity of this not only was it Santa’s countdown but it’s a perfect countdown for children too. They will be getting so excited as it gets closer and closer to Christmas and this gives them and idea of what Santa could be doing in preparation for it. I can imagine this also being used along side an adventure calendar, one page a day until Santa’s list is completed.

I loved that it was comical, Santa had so many funny catch phrases, Tek the elf was always coming up with some new funny technology to improve Santas job, and Poppy the elf was getting stressed over the toys being made in time. It was all made so comical children will be giggling away whilst reading or listening to this.

It had really nice illustrations on each page and seeing what they were up to within the story is always fun, children will be inspecting the pictures I’m sure. I really loved the creativity of this and the uniqueness, I’ve not seen a Christmas book done in this way before and I really enjoyed it.

This is a perfect family read aloud book, it’s enjoyable for most ages that are excited for Christmas Day to arrive. It’s funny, nice to look at, the story is creative and it will get you all Christmassy.

This delightful book is a countdown from December 1st to Christmas Eve. It’s all about the day-to-day happenings at Santa’s place in the North Pole as Santa, Mrs. Claus, the reindeer and all the elves get ready for the big day.

The book can be read in one go or day-by-day throughout December. It works very well either way, as each little story is more of an amusing moment in Santa’s life. But altogether it makes for a complete story!

Santa’s days are filled with workout sessions, reading letters from children around the world, Tek the Elf and his wacky new inventions, testing stuffed animals for huggability, tasting the Christmas baking, taking the reindeer out for exercise and lots more!

I think any child reading this book will be enchanted with all the ins-and-outs of Santa and Mrs. Claus’s lives. I know I would have been as a kid!

One of the cutest parts of the story are Santa’s expressions. He says things like “Gallopin’ gravy!” and “Cracklin’ candy canes!” There’s a different expression on each day. I love it!

I highly recommend this book for the pre-school to Grade 1 set, but honestly, I think it will appeal to some older children, too!

I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I really wanted to love this book, because I love Christmas and I love countdowns… but it was a little lackluster. The illustrations are super cute, but the writing is somewhat wooden. It’s on the level of a “Dick and Jane” book, but it’s in paragraph format and with a few more complicated plot points. A paragraph style book needs better writing. It just doesn’t have a lot of personality. And the countdown doesn’t feel much like a countdown—just a collection of things that happened to Santa—and some of it doesn’t fit standard Santa lore… like it says they don’t start making the toys until December 5th! I don’t think I’d share this book with a child because it has too many contradictory things common in Christmas story telling and introduces all kinds of new characters to keep track of, none of which end up being exciting or endearing. I really love the illustrations, though. They get 5 stars. But the story and writing I give 2 stars. The one thing I really liked about this book (besides the illustrations) was the discussion of the Naughty List. I think Santa said some great things about the efforts kids put forth and not leaving anyone out. Overall, this is a 3 star children’s book.

Author Kim Thompson and Illustrator Elodie Duhameau wrote a book to help little children (ages 3 till 7) to help them face the Christmas countdown. A bookish advent calender with a story for every night - from the 1st december till Christmas.

This book contains beautiful short stories that make one but are still well readed seperately. So there's no need to read past the day on your callender. The stories are well written and placed on a double page, each time with lovely illustrations. That way it helps children to stop reading and not go any further. The amount of text is well chosen, not to much but enough to make a whole story in the end.

Thompson brings a lovely story about father Christmas, with some funny elements like a gps tracking system and a gift wrapping chicken for Santa. And besides that the story gives children an important lesson, there's no need to be alone. But most of all, trying to do the right thing and to behave well is really important, but everyone is naughty sometimes!

This is such a fun idea and different twist on the Advent idea leading up to Christmas day. Every day adults and kids can read a story together to count down the days until Santa comes. The stories talk about how the Claus’ and Elves prepare for Christmas which can also provide a chance for people to talk about what preparations they make in their own family.

The only negative I see is children have been ‘trained’ to flip pages to read the stories so having them focus and understand you have to stick to just one page might cause a little confusion. If you have multiple kids and let them take turns reading a story each day that might make it a bit easier but it’s one of those try it out and see what happens things.

This illustrations are beautiful, festive, colorful and absolutely perfect accompaniments to the stories.

"Tis the season to be jolly" and excited. This delightful engaging book will calm that excitement as a story unfolds each day for wee ones to enjo before the BIG Christmas event takes place. "Santa's Countdown to Christmas: 24 Days of Stories" is the perfect storytelling Advent calendar. I love the whole concept and kid's will too.

Starting December 1st kids will enjoy a wonderful story that explains how Santa, Mrs. Claus, the elves and the reindeer prepare for that epic night on Christmas Eve.

Santa makes sure he is physically fit for the long and arduous journey ahead of him and kids discover what happens at Santa's toy factory.

The illustrations are colourful and detailed. The book certainly captures the atmosphere and fervour around this magical time of the year.

Happy holiday season everyone! Read your child into a joyous Christmas experience.

Christmas is coming! There's so much to do, and only twenty-four days to get ready.

Join Santa, and all the North Pole residents as they scurry around preparing for the Big Day.

But, this year, Santa has a perplexing puzzle to solve; just what do you give a little boy who didn't ask for anything? (The answer will make you go, "Aww!")

Whether you and your child read this one day at a time, or all at once, it is just a delightful book. The text is packed with humor, and the jazzy, retro illustrations by Élodie Duhameau are wonderful.

Well this was an absolutely charming read.

Santa prepares for Christmas through the tradition of Advent, the book consists of 24 chapters representing the days until Christmas Day. It's a beautifully illustrated and humorously heart warming story, I loved it. I think the idea is to read one chapter per day but the girls couldn't do that with any book, so we read till the end, and I'm sure it'll be a re-read every year now! Its a truly lovely book, I recommend to all.

Thanks to Netgalley, Kim Thompson and publishers for this ARC in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Santa's Countdown to Christmas by Kim Thompson - 4 stars

Ever wonder what Santa does while waiting for the Christmas eve to arrive, well this is the story for you. As everyone at the South Pole waits for the big day, they spend their time getting ready, relaxing, working out and enjoying themselves.

As I read this Christmas story to my children, they enjoyed not just the story, but they truly loved counting down the days with the story line. The illustrations are bright, fun and definitely give you the Christmas feeling. This was a huge hit at bedtime in my house

Thank you NetGalley and Chouette Publishing for the ARC.

I was provided this advanced reader by Chouette Publishing. In exchange for an honest review of the book. This is my review.
The book is a great read for all ages. As I read the fine details that Santa is saying, it takes me back to my own childhood. Remembering what it was like to wonder what was happening in the days leading up to Christmas. As I read this book to my nephew (who is 8), his eyes light up in wonder as we count down the days until Christmas with every event. This is a book I would purchase when it is released, as it has brought cheer and delight into this family.

Wow what a great story concept!! I love the idea of reading one page a day counting down until Christmas (24 days worth) and getting a piece of the story each day.

I found the story/ writing itself a little wordy and long personally, so it won’t be making my list of favourite Christmas stories BUT the concept and the illustrations make up for where the words are lacking in my opinion. It also could be that it’s intended to be read one page at a time and I read it in one sitting. Either way it was a very fun Christmas read and I’d recommend it to school age children.

This was another children's book I read for a prompt for a readathon and it was such a fun book! It starts on December 1st and it describes all Santa's preparations and activities for that day. The book goes all the way to December 25th where Santa wishes everyone a Merry Christmas but there are actually 24 days of stories to enjoy. I would definitely recommend this book to share with the whole family in the lead up to Christmas . It is a well written book with bright, fun, captivating illustrations that are sure to delight the young and the young at heart.

This book is a delight! It is full of bright, colorful illustrations that capture the humor of the story and the spirit of Christmas. The book works like an advent calendar with an activity or job to be done each day in December for Santa to be prepared to deliver presents. This would be a great title to add to the home collection for the holidays.

This title will be a unique addition to our Holiday selection offerings in our public library. A short vignette for each day leading up to the BIG DAY tells youngsters fun "facts" about the North Pole and all the activities that Santa and his workers must complete.

This book can be a part of the anticipation of the season while helping teach patience, days of the month and counting all at once. Ho-ho-ho!
