A new smartphone from TP-Link is apparently on the horizon and, unlike other handsets from the company, this one seems to be a high-end offering with powerful specifications. TP-Link is mostly known for its routers and other networking solutions, but every now and then the company also launches a smartphone. So far, the handsets have catered to the entry-level or mid-range segments of the smartphone market, but a new leak now details flagship specs for the upcoming device, including Qualcomm’s beefy Snapdragon 835 processor. Based on the leak, the smartphone will come with a sleek design, curved edges, and a high screen-to-body ratio.

The leaked images show a smartphone with virtually no side bezels and very slim bezels at the top and bottom of the display. The screen will reportedly have an 18:9 aspect ratio, joining the recent trend of smartphones with 18:9 screens such as the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, the Galaxy Note 8, the LG V30, and more. To achieve the thin bezels and high screen-to-body ratio, TP-Link ditched the physical home button and placed the fingerprint scanner on the smartphone’s back. Above the fingerprint scanner are the two rear cameras, one with a 20-megapixel sensor with 2x optical zoom, and the other with a 16-megapixel sensor. The handset will also feature a 16-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls.

The smartphone is further expected to pack 6GB of RAM, which, combined with the Snapdragon 835 processor, should deliver a fast and powerful performance. No other details are available at this point, so it remains unclear for now just how much storage the device will pack, if it will support microSD cards for additional memory, if it will support fast charging technology, or if it will have a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and so on. The size of the screen remains unclear as well, as does the size of the battery. TP-Link has yet to make an official announcement regarding this upcoming smartphone, so it’s all still in the rumor state for now. If the leak turns out to be accurate, TP-Link should offer more information closer to launch, detailing the specs, features, pricing, and availability.
