Newcastle United midfielder Mohamed Diame wants to be reunited with his former boss Steve Bruce at Aston Villa.
Newcastle United midfielder Mohamed Diame has struggled for regular games this season, and he is reportedly angling a move elsewhere.
The 30-year-old versatile midfielder joined the Magpies in 2016 from Hull City. He managed 37 league games in his first season, and made seven appearances so far this season.
However, he has mainly played bit-part roles at the club, clocking just 155 minutes of action.
The report claims that Diame would consider a reunion with his former boss Steve Bruce, whom he worked with at Hull City, in the January transfer window.
Diame would be a smart signing for Villa. Not only is he a versatile midfielder (can play as a central midfielder and on the left and right flanks as well), but also has a wealth of Premier League and Championship experience under his belt.
He has represented Wigan Athletic, West Ham United, and Hull City in the Premier League, and would take no time in settling in at Villa.
