"The present plan is that I’m writing a theme for Han Solo, and John Powell is going to write the score, which he’ll do brilliantly," Williams said.
Powell will be writing the rest of the themes for the movie, which Williams says he's excited to hear. Lucasfilm announced Powell as Solo's composer earlier this summer."His assignment is something I’m very happy about," Williams said. "What I will do is offer this to John, and to Ron Howard, and if all parties are happy with it, then I will be happy."
Williams has composed music for all eight main Star Wars installments, with the latest film being The Last Jedi. Michael Giacchino scored 2016's Rogue One. Meanwhile, Powell composed music for the Bourne franchise, How to Train Your Dragon, and Ferdinand, to name just a few.
Solo: A Star Wars Story opens in theaters on May 25, 2018. For more on the movie, read what the film's former directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord had to say about leaving the project. Ron Howard took over after Miller and Lord's departure.
