Welcome! I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Queen's University in Ontario. My research agenda is concerned with understanding how Muslim women navigate mechanisms of exclusion and inequality, such as stigma, and cultivate inclusion at work and in their intimate lives. With both my research and teaching, I work to decentre and revitalize sociological traditions by emphasizing the global, historical and colonial dimensions of contemporary social practices and relations. I received my PhD in sociology from the University of Virginia in 2019, before completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Gender and the Economy (GATE) at the University of Toronto. My research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the American Association of University Women and a Fulbright Scholarship. Follow me on twitter @fauziahusain |
