The indie distributor The Orchard announced Thursday that is is “giving careful consideration” to the planned November 17 release of Louis C.K.’s new comedy “I Love You, Daddy” just hours after several sexual misconduct accusations emerged against the star.

“We are giving careful consideration to the timing and release of the film and continuing to review the situation,” a spokesperson for the indie company told TheWrap.

“There is never a place for the behavior detailed in these allegations,” the statement concluded.

Shortly before saying its release was under review, the company canceled a planned Thursday premiere of the film in New York as well as a scheduled appearance on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.” The decisions came swiftly after the publication of a New York Times story in which several women said the comic masturbated in front of them without consent.

“Daddy,” which also stars Edie Flaco and Chloe Grace Moretz, already had issues as it approached release. The mysterious project debuted at September’s Toronto International Film Festival to mixed reviews over its content.

C.K. plays a successful Hollywood type whose 17-year-old daughter starts a sexual relationship with an esteemed director in his 60s (many critics out of TIFF likened the character, played by John Malkovich, to Woody Allen). C.K.’s character has to weigh his lifelong admiration for the character against his child’s innocence.

Among the accusers in the Times piece are comedy duo Dana Min Goodman and Julia Wolov, who according to the report were invited by the comedian to his hotel room after a show at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in 2012. According to the report, when they arrived at his room, C.K. asked Goodman and Wolov if he could take out his penis.

Reps for C.K. did not respond to TheWrap’s request for comment on the Times piece.
