Charges may be filed against Tennessee State football player who attacked coach
Charges may be filed against a Tennessee State University football player dismissed from the team and expelled from school after he attacked assistant coach T.J. Greenstone on the sideline during the Tigers' game on Saturday.
Head coach Rod Reed kicked Latrelle Lee, a senior defensive end from Dothan, Ala., off the team immediately after the game for improper misconduct following the assault, TSU officials confirmed.
Lee, 22, was expelled from the university Monday morning.
As of late Tuesday afternoon, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office jail website showed Lee had not been arrested or booked into the Metro jail.

In an email from assistant athletic director for media relations Zekeya Harrison to The Tennessean and copied to university campus police Chief Gregory Robinson, Harrison would not say whether Lee was arrested or if campus police planned to charge him.
"No further comments will be made from the TSU athletics department at this time," Harrison later wrote in a response to a second Tennessean e-mail.
Greenstone was scheduled to meet with campus police Tuesday to discuss whether he plans to file assault charges against Lee, according to a source connected to the incident.
Because the assault was caught on video and observed by thousands of witnesses, the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office can file charges against Lee even if Greenstone says he does not want to press charges.

The incident occurred during the Tigers' game against Southeast Missouri at Hale Stadium. TSU won the game 23-20.
After Lee punched Greenstone, Lee was escorted off the sideline. When the game ended Reed met with Lee and informed him he was no longer a part of the team, according to a source.
