Tech titans testify about Russia’s election interference
In response to Russia’s use of social media to influence the 2016 presidential election, Facebook, Google and Twitter will all testify on Capitol Hill Tuesday. According to planned testimony by Facebook's general counsel, as many as 126 million people may have seen material posted by a Russian troll farm under fake Facebook identities between 2015 and 2017. Previously Facebook said 10 million people saw Russia-linked advertising sought to sway U.S. voters. Social media companies are under pressure to respond to demands by lawmakers that they follow the same regulations on political ads as advertisers in newspapers, radio and television currently do.

New report shows safety grades on 2,600 U.S. hospitals
Fifteen U.S. hospitals — including two in Washington, D.C. — received failing marks in the latest hospital safety grades, a new report released Tuesday finds. Some 2,600 hospitals across 50 states were graded on multiple factors that ranged from medical errors to patient surveys, according to state rankings from non-profit watchdog Leapfrog Group. The report found that nearly all of the "F" hospitals serviced low-income patients of color, with the findings remaining a contested issue among patient safety advocates. But there's hope for patients in failing grade hospitals. States that made the biggest strides in overall hospital safety since 2012 — including Oregon, Hawaii and Wisconsin — saw improvement due to coalitions that pushed patient safety, Leapfrog says.

Ex-Guam priest who admitted to sex abuse to provide additional evidence
A former priest who admitted to sexually abusing children in Guam is scheduled to provide additional sworn evidence during his deposition in Minnesota Tuesday. Louis Brouillard, 96, is accused in more than half of the 141 clergy sex abuse lawsuits filed in local and federal courts against the Archdiocese of Agana. In phone interviews and a signed affidavit last year, Brouillard admitted to sexually abusing more than 20 boys and offered his apologies to those he may have harmed. The evidence he is expected to provide will be used in connection with an effort by the Archdiocese of Agana and lawsuit parties to settle the cases.
