Do you ever see something so right, so accurate that you wonder how you didn’t think of it is as an unquestionable fact before? Well, thanks to an advertising campaign from a group of makers from the Japanese city of Okawa, we’ve been presented with another inarguable truth: cats are total minimalists. The campaign, which is designed to renew attention to the city’s legacy as a furniture hub, features cat sized versions of some gorgeous pieces.

The campaign, “Craftsmen Made”, celebrates the work and highlights the aesthetic of the makers in the region. The furniture is made with carefully selected wood and the level of craftsmanship applied to the people-sized furniture that is more widely available. A fast and loose translation touts the pieces as “furniture that will satisfy a selfish cat”, which even if that’s not the direct translation, is still a fantastic tagline.

You can order two of the pieces directly from the folks who make them. The couch is made by Hiromatsu Woodwork, a company that is committed to the idea that people should “pursue comfort in the whole space, not furniture alone,” and makes a variety of items including watches and toys. The bed is available from Tateno Mokuzai, a company that makes natural wood furniture that is designed with families in mind. Both companies are located in Okawa.

So since it turns out cats have been hinting at their personal aesthetic through their love of simple brown boxes forever, we can now reward them with the sleek and simple furniture they so desire.
