ESL One Hamburg 2017 has released their group schedule, revealing Fnatic as the SEA representatives to replace HappyFeet.
After failing to clinch one of the five first minor/majors for the new Pro Circuit season, Fnatic were delivered a miracle chance when they were invited to replace HappyFeet in Germany. HappyFeet's unfortunate battle with visa issues left them out in the cold and little time for other teams from the region to obtain visas in the short one week time frame.
By sliding into their first Pro Circuit appearance of the year, Fnatic will now have a shot at earning the TI8 qualifying points. They will, however, have a tough road to navigate being placed in the stacked Group A including Team Secret, Newbee and Evil Geniuses.
Over the course of four days, teams will engage in a battle for the lion's share of the TI8 qualifying points and $1,000,000 prize pool.
The eight competing teams have been divided into two groups of four. The two directly invited teams - Team Liquid and Newbee have been separated as 'group heads'. The other teams were placed with special attention paid to avoid multiple teams from the same region being in the same group.
To squeeze in as much action as possible in only four days- including group stage, the tournament is being held as single elimination brackets with a best-of-three grand final.
