It's official! And it's adorable.

Yesterday, "Game of Thrones" real-life couple Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Rose Leslie (Ygritte) were engaged. The news came from a "source," though, and there had been a previous engagement rumor that was later shot down.

But the newly engaged couple confirmed the news themselves by posting a notice in the Times newspaper in the U.K.:

When "Game of Thrones" Season 8 starts filming, everyone on set should insist on calling him "Mr. K.C. Harington."

That simple but definitive notice won the hearts of a cynical modern fandom:

But, OK, maybe others were less charmed:

True. A wedding is the last place any "Game of Thrones" fan should want to be.

GoT Season 8 is now in pre-production and will reportedly start filming in October and continue at least until June 2018 and potentially till August, which would certainly suggest a 2019 premiere. Jon Snow was revealed to be Aegon Targaryen, and he's now dating his aunt Daenerys. It's weird, but that's OK, as long as Jon doesn't get killed a second time and Dany doesn't suffer Ygritte's fate.
