Average movie, nice try but fails at the end
I thought of giving this movie a chance as it was recommended to me so here we are. It starts ok a car accident happens and the lead character is rescued in a radiation safe bunker as apparently something bad happened. Ok all good there. I wont spoil the whole story but all you need to know she always has doubts in her mind that what happened to her was an abduction and she tries over and over to get out. The rest you have to watch it. The ending? I let you figure that out for yourself. Average movie in my opinion. Its not as bad as some say to give it a 1 star but average 2 or 3 star movie.

A great sequel to the movie Cloverfield [DVD]. This movie is very different to the first film- They have ditched the found footage part and it is not as action packed. But I still loved it.
I thought it was weird at first but as the movie progressed I thought it was superb! It is about a women who was in the countryside and had a car accident. She wakes up in a bunker with a man (John Goodman) who claims he saved her from an "attack" that has wiped out many people. The movie had me on the edge of my seat and many things that we didn't know from the first film are revealed. The music by Bear McCreary makes it very creepy and also the song "I think we're alone now" is very good. There are a few shocking moments that make you jump.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher jr are both great actors and John Goodman is great in the role of Howard. There is a choice of commentary and also some interesting special features such as "Cloverfield Too", "Bunker Mentality" and "End of story" - I never realized that this was the directers first film!
    Is it worth the money?
With great acting, shocking moments, good special features and secrets being revealed I would definitely recommend. Even if you haven't seen the first film it is still a good watch.
I can't wait for Cloverfield 3 that is said to be arriving in October 2017 called "God partical."

Back in 2008, the found footage movie Cloverfield [DVD] snuck up on people, nobody knowing anything about it till the trailers first came out.

Eight years later, the same production company pulled the same trick with 10 Cloverfield Lane.

Michelle [Mary Elizabeth Winstead] is a lady who runs away from problems. At the start of the film, she is doing just that once again. When her car goes off the road. She wakes up in a room seemingly the prisoner of Howard [John Goodman]. But then finds he's actually saved her life. They are in his underground bunker. An attack has left the world above uninhabitable. There's another man there called Emmett. And there's enough in the bunker for the three of them to survive.

They just can't go above ground. Or they will die.

All seems fine, and bunker life begins affably enough. But Michelle is increasingly suspicious of just how much she can trust Howard...

Not a found footage movie. Not a monster movie of the traditional kind. This is a three hander character drama suspense movie that plays out over a limited number of sets. But when you let good actors get good character roles and focus on that, the results are good. As happens here. The movie is very suspenseful, as you really have no idea what will happen next. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is a reliable actress and delivers again here, making Michelle a character you can root for. John Goodman also turns in a superbly unpredictable performance.

Things proceed in this fashion for a very watchable first two thirds of the film.

    Then it goes another way.

Hard to say too much more without spoilers, but the rest of the film does finish off a very solid character arc. And reveal more about the title. Those who wanted more of the same as in the original will be disappointed, but this is the best kind of sequel. One that does something completely different from the original. And yet does connect with it.

But ultimately it's an entertaining watch, and worth a look.

The dvd has the following language and subtitle options:

    Languages: English.

Subtitles: English, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish.

The disc goes straight into the menu screen when loaded without any trailers or ads.

    Extras:

A commentary from the producer and the director.

    Three featurettes:

Cloverfield Too. An eight minute overview of the film. Since it's a few minutes longer than these usually are, it manages to be more in depth than the usual promotional featurette, so it's a good watch.

Bunker Mentality. Three minutes about the movie sets.

End of story. Two minutes about the last act of the film.

Both of those two are short, but pretty good viewing.

    (10 Cloverfield Lane)
This movie has nothing to do with the (2008) Cloverfield, its a totally different film altogether, the story was pretty good, the acting was spot on and with (John Goodman) it was even better. It had a nice feel to this movie with great suspense throughout, the film was well thought out and gave a good tone of a survival feeling to it. You need to step the first movie ASIDE, it has nothing to do with this amazing movie.

    (The Plot) - (SPOILERS ALERT)
A girl wakes up to discover she is in a BUNKER, a man down there says he saved her from the pandemic disaster that accrued outside, she does not know if she should believe this guy, but can she take the risk to go outside. He has tones of survival stuff in the bunker even home appliances such as TV, dvd's, Music Player, and much more, another guy also lives in the bunker and he helps the girl try and escape thinking the guy who brought them there is a MENTAL CASE......... They have to SURVIVE but whats worse, going outside after an unknown world wide disaster or staying in a bunker with a guy that seems to of lost the plot?

    (Rating)
I give this movie a (10/10) due to the great acting, amazing suspense, and a solid but basic story to follow.......Highly recommend giving this one a watch :) you will NOT be disappointed I promise.

4.0 out of 5 stars 10 Cloverfield Lane – Klaustrophobischer Psychoschocker
Reviewed in Germany on 22 January 2018

    Was mir gefallen hat:

Was mir weniger gefallen hat (Enthält Spoiler)
