October 28, 1990
From the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, MO
Your hosts are Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan
This week, we will see highlights from the Hulk Hogan & Tugboat vs. Rhythm & Blues match from “Saturday Night’s Main Event. Also in action are the Legion of Doom, Texas Tornado, The Barbarian, and Jim Duggan. Plus, an interview with Randy Savage and more!
Legion of Doom vs. Tom Stone & Alan Reynolds
The LoD knock Stone outside then beat on Reynolds. We then hear from Mr. Fuji as he says the LoD have a big surprise coming and he is the only one that knows about it then the LoD put Reynolds away with the Doomsday Device (2:33).
Thoughts: The rumor going around at the time was that Fuji would once again manage Demolition. We will see if that does happen in the coming weeks.
WWF Special Report with Lord Alfred Hayes. We are shown the news of WWF President Jack Tunney suspended Rick Rude indefinitely then Bossman tells Heenan he will make him suffer, just like Heenan did to his mother.
Reno Riggins vs. The Barbarian w/ Bobby Heenan
The Barbarian beats on Riggins to start. He hits a backbreaker then a slam before the flying shoulder tackle gets him the win (1:37).
Thoughts: An easy win for The Barbarian, who remains directionless since splitting up from his partner several months ago.
Gene Okerlund is with more kids to ask them what is inside of the giant egg. Answers we get are turkeys, wrestling souveniers, and chicken.
Shane Douglas vs. Paul Diamond
Heenan is back and tells us he is just a “ribber” who makes light of stuff as he’s petrified of facing Bossman. Douglas gets two with a crossbody then Diamond bails so Douglas flies out with a pescado then flips back inside. We hear from Douglas saying his goals in the WWF are to earn his way to the top and stay there as he catches Diamond with a belly-to-belly suplex before hitting a flying body press for the win (1:25).
Thoughts: Douglas did some decent stuff here but the focus was on commentary were Heenan remained petrified of the Big Bossman.
An ad for the Survivor Series airs.
Clips of Tugboat & Hogan vs. Rhythm & Blues from “Saturday Night’s Main Event” airs. Earthquake & Dino Bravo came down to beat on Hogan & Tugboat.
Texas Tornado vs. Doug Vines
Heenan continues to show fear about facing Bossman as Gorilla makes fun of him. We hear from Mr. Perfect in an insert promo as he tells us that the Texas Tornado will not survive at the Survivor Series or as the Intercontinental Champion as Tornado is in control of the match. Tornado applies the claw then hits the discus punch for the win (1:48).
Thoughts: More hype for the Tornado/Perfect feud.
Okerlund is on the interview platform with guests Macho King Randy Savage & Queen Sherri, who is looking mighty fine here. Savage promises that he will become the next World Heavyweight Champion then Sherri flips out over accusations that Savage hides behind her skirt. Sherri said she presented a contract to Warrior, who did nothing, so he slapped him three times as Savage said when Warrior loses, he’ll be called the………Ultimate Loser. Sherri going mental was a highlight but finally the Warrior has a decent program since becoming the World Heavyweight Champion.
Jeff Sword vs. Hacksaw Jim Duggan
Duggan rallies the crowd behind him then catches Sword with a clothesline. The announcers talk about the Survivor Series as Duggan hits a slam before getting the win with his Three Point Stance (1:38).
Thoughts: Duggan is feuding with Slaughter too but the main focus now is on Volkoff/Slaughter.
Survivor Series Report with Gene Okerlund.
Power & Glory vs. Red Tyler & Kevin Kruger
We hear from The Rockers in an insert promo telling Power & Glory that they are back and are out for revenge. Power & Glory beat on Tyler as the announcers go over the rules of the Survivor Series. They now beat on Kruger before putting him away with the Power Plex (2:39).
Thoughts: Another squash match win where Power & Glory impressed. Their feud with the Rockers continues.
Next week, we will see The Bushwhackers vs. Rhythm & Blues. Also in action are Nikolai Volkoff, Dino Bravo, Davey Boy Smith, and The Big Bossman as Heenan is petrified. The show closes with comments from both teams involved in the tag match.
Final Thoughts: Not much here but we actually get a featured match next week. The other TV feuds are continuing as they continue to build towards the Survivor Series.
