New York City Gets a $1,000 Bagel -- Again

This article is more than 6 years old.

Westin New York Times Square

In New York City, there's always something bigger, better and more expensive to compete with whatever you're lusting after, but this bagel may take the title for the most decadent sandwich in the city. In the likes of Serendipity 3's Golden Opulence Sundae ($1,000) and Industry Kitchen's gold and caviar-topped pizza ($2,000), The Westin New York is now serving up a four-digit breakfast sandwich.

Originally on the menu during fall 2007, this $1000 bagel throws back to a time of Gossip Girl and Sex and the City endorsed extravagance, predating the 2008 financial crisis. Still, there's a charitable component to the glutenous (and glutinous) opulence: 100% of proceeds from the bagel will be donated to Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen.

So what makes this bagel worth so much dough?

The bagel (sourced from a local bakery) is spread with a generous swoop of Alba white truffle cream cheese and then topped with goji berry-infused Riesling jelly and golden leaves. Tax and tip is included in the bagel's price tag, which is available via 24-hour room service or at the hotel's Foundry Bar during breakfast hours.

To add to the special occasion of consuming such a luxurious bagel, The Westin will also be pouring extremely rare 25-year-old Pappy Van Winkle bourbon. A half-ounce pour is $175 and a full ounce goes for $315.

The $1,000 bagel re-launches November 1 through December 15, 2017 and must be ordered 24 hours in advance.
