WWE announces Undertaker and more big plans for Raw’s 25th anniversary show

WWE.com

The wrestling web got a whiff of it first, and WWE’s given more details about what they have planned for the 25th anniversary of their flagship program on Jan. 22, 2018 in New York.

While the main broadcast will emanate from Barclays Center in Brooklyn as previously reported, the company will also return to the site of the first ever Raw. In addition to matches taking place at both locations - featuring stars from both main roster brands - a number of Legends will appear at The Manhattan Center.

One of those Legends is technically still active. The Undertaker will be making his first scheduled appearance since a WrestleMania 33 loss to Roman Reigns. That match was interpreted by many as being his final one due to The Dead Man leaving his hat, duster and gloves in the ring and breaking kayfabe to acknowledge his family to close the show in Orlando. Is showing up here a sign he’s not done?

Taker, who according to posts on WWE.com and in The New York Post, is set to appear on Jan. 22 with Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash and others, has been the subject of a lot of rumors and could return sooner. But whether he does or not, showing up on the Royal Rumble ‘go home’ show at the start of the road to WrestleMania 34 will lead to a lot of speculation about his future.

Broadcasting from two locations will also remind fan of another ‘Mania. WWE brought the second edition of their biggest event to screens from three separate cities. While this won’t be as big a deal as WrestleMania II, expect fireworks from Barclays and The Manhattan Center.

As Vince McMahon told The Post:

“We look forward to celebrating this unmatched milestone with our fans around the world, but 25 years only marks the beginning of WWE surprising, delighting and entertaining generations to come.”

Excited? Tickets go on sale this Friday (Nov. 3).
