Illinois Lawmakers: Something has to be done about gun violence

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCCU) — The bill to cut back on gun violence has been voted down.

Marty Moylan for the 55th District said something needs to be done.

"Certainly, these assault rifles are out of control,” Moylan, D-Des Plaines said. “They're killing machines, I will work my butt off to get some kind of reasonable gun control. These tragedies and mass shootings are happening more and more and becoming common, common,” Moylan continued. “It's unbelievable you have to feel when you got to church that you're not safe."

Moylan said if he refiles the bill he will make technical changes and make it more feasible for members to get on board.

After January, Moylan will only need 60 votes to pass the bump stock bill and 71 in the Veto Session.
