Heavy flooding hit parts of rural Wales after torrential overnight rain.

A Ceredigion resident took this clip of the flooding in Talsarn.

Other areas hit by flooding including areas around Lampeter, Llandysul and Newquay.

Christine Dobson Chabert, who took the footage said: “The ford is just down the hill near the school, which is closed.

“It has receded about a metre, but it’s still high.

“Yesterday evening at about 9.30pm there was a huge downpour, and again this morning at about 4am the rain was hammering at the windows.

“We have a field with our pony in, and half of that is a flood plain and it’s just covered in water.”

Andrew McConochie was on his way to work when he witnessed the flooding and captured footage said: “I’d driven through Talsarn on my way to work about five minutes earlier, and there was nothing there.

“About three miles further on I came across another flooded section about 50 yards long and about two foot deep, so I decided to turn back and this is what i found in Talsarn.

“So myself and a few others were stuck between the two for about 30 mins.”

Flood Alerts posted an alert for the lower Teifi on their Facebook page: “The rainfall is forecast to continue to ease. Sporadic showers will continue throughout the day with the possibility of some high rainfall totals at certain locations.

“The combination of ground conditions, existing river levels and forecast rainfall quantities gives a high risk of flooding of low-lying land during the next 24 hours.

“The level of the River Teifi between Lampeter and Llechryd will continue to rise for 6-8hrs as the flood peak travels downstream between the river level stations at Llanfair and Glanteifi.”

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Reports of localised flooding on the A486, A487 and A475 in Ceredigion.

"Report of standing water on the A484.

"Report of B4337 blocked due to flooding.
