Rapper, actor and TV producer Curtis Jackson said on Tuesday that he turned down a $500,000 offer from President Trump to make an appearance for him during his 2016 presidential campaign.

The music artist, better known as 50 Cent, said Trump tried to recruit him to help the then-GOP nominee appeal to black voters during a radio interview on Hot 97.

"Before he got elected, they were having issues with the African-American vote," Jackson said. "They wanted to pay me $500,000 as part of the campaign just to make an appearance. I was like, 'Nah, that's not good money.'"

"I'm not going to do that," he continued. "That's not worth it!"

Trump later won the election, but with the lowest support from black and Hispanic voters than any other U.S. president in the last four decades, a Reuters review of polling data shows. A new poll released earlier this week by Quinnipiac University showed that 94 percent of African-Americans disapprove of how the president has handled race relations.
