Brief highlights of the Society
The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) was established on the eve of Ethio-Italian war, on July, 8, 1935 and signed the Geneva Convention on July 25 of the same year and became 48th member of League of Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies on 25, September 1935. Since then the Society have engaged on providing Humanitarian services & community based development initiatives. Currently the ERCS has a structure consisting of 11 Regional Offices, 32 Zonal Branches and 112 District/Woreda Branches and 3673 grass root committees/Kebele Red Cross Committees.
Role Summary
Under the general direction and guidance of the Deputy Secretary General of Support Service plans, directs and controls the overall human resource management matters of the Society; develops visionary HR strategies, policies and procedures that are properly aligned with the mission, vision, values, objectives and strategic plan of the Society and the Movements; ensures that the HR administration and development policy framework of the Society is properly and consistently practiced across the Society; studies, reviews, modifies and streamlines existing operation systems in a way that ensures cost-effective resource utilization, and quality service delivery; ensures that skills gaps and training needs identified, proper training programs and progression schemes designed and administered; sees to it that the pay systems of the Society are internally equitable and competitive with the prevailing overall market pay, manages the health and care, insurance and overall welfare matters of the Society.
