An Intimate Evening With hosted by Steve Blacknell saw the anecdotally eloquent Scotsman on top form, regaling Fishy tales from braving the Bosnia war zone to brave-hearted acting ambitions, musical influences and future plans. As well as performing Clutching At Straws in its entirety, his forthcoming tour features tracks from the upcoming Weltschmerz. Adding flair to the evening was the presence of John Otway, which led to a free-form discussion on Aylesbury market square heroism at the bar after the show. Andy Rawll

Celebrating 40 on and off years, the quality of the Furs’ music and performance overcame a rather predictable set-list, without any unexpected extras. Even so, their art-house, new wave hard rock and punk provided a masterly performance of rockers like Pretty In Pink and the climactic encore featuring tracks from their classic debut, in Sister Europe and India. A dense wall of sound, and rocking fun. James Masterson
