Hi Everyone,

I need major help in what to buy and don't really know where to start. I quit smoking and started vaping with the help of users on this forum, approximately 4 years ago. I'm still a vaper after all these years, but I'm still a noob with anything technical. For instance, I have never and will never understand the ohms and volts.

What I need help with is should I go with an ego style vv pen type or itaste mvp 3.0 that I was thinking about buying? If go with the ego style vv, what ohm should i buy for carto and clearomizer? More info on my vaping problems below.

Here's where things are right now for me:

I'm only able to vape mint or menthol juices, so don't know how that affects the hardware.

I need a new setup because the threads on my istick 20w are stripped and I can't screw anything into it anymore.

I rarely go above 3.6v on my istick or old itaste mvp 2 because my clearo or carto starts to burn.

I still primarily have to use cartos because clearos just don't seem to work well for me or I suck at using them.

I keep trying year after year, but clearos are just one use items for me. They work fine out of the box, then it goes downhill after a few days. When I change out the coil to see if its better, the flavor is bad or the clearo burns. I've had so many clearos and extra coils just sitting here until I gave them away.

I hoped to do away with the clearo issue by buying a Joyetech all in one, but the taste is lackluster for me and most important, it gets way to hot and its been burning my lips, i just can't use it.

Welcome. I only moved on from the cartos myself last year. Maybe try the nautilus tank? They are very similar to a carto.
If you were burning @ 3.6 on just the Istick it's most likely because of the inaccuracy. It runs 1 volt higher than indicated IIRC. So, yeah, cartos might sure burn @ 4.6. For sure. Either coils for the nautilus should be fine
Nothing wrong with sticking to cartos tho...

I think the Nautilus 2 or mini might be a good choice, they're pretty user friendly. You could try a zelos 50 watt mod if you are not interested in TC (which it sounds like not). Both made by aspire, pretty reliable, etc. Pretty easy topfill, and not big leakers as long as you stay below the topfill line....

I know absolutely nothing about cartos, sorry, so I can't really help there....

I'll second the Nautilus tank. You could get a full size Nautilus or a Mini. I think I saw a Mini for around $20 recently. Guess the full size is a little more. They have been around for a long time and the replacement coils are pretty good.

As far as mods go, a VV stick like a Spinner would have enough power to run a Nautilus. Still I suggest something like a Pico. You can get one for $24, about the same as a Spinner. Other things apart they are stable, won't fall over as easily as a Spinner. Another advantage is they use removable batteries so you can carry on vaping on a second battery while the first recharges. Or get a later model Istick, like a 40. I think I read they have stainless steel 510's and are more accurate than the 20. And a bigger tank like a Nauti looks a bit goofy on a skinny mod like a Spinner, if you care.

That's all assuming you want something simple and foolproof. Sounds like you aren't into the techy stuff.

Another vote for the nautilus, maybe the mini. And perhaps buy another istick as they are light , small, and affordable. Yes a nautilus mini on an istick is a great vape. Just have to buy some extra coils and your ready to go..pretty sure they are the bvc 1.8 or 1.6 coils. Or the pico mods are very good and use an 18650 battery , which is nice because if the battery wears out, just put in a new one instead of chucking the whole mod

Not much to add to all the info you've received. Stepping up from those cartos really is the best choice right now, and any of the Nautilus series are appropriate. I would recommend either the Nauti 2 or, if you can find it, a Triton mini (uses same coils as the Nauti series) as they are top fill which I find way more convenient. As to the battery/mod to place it on, any of the choices already recommended will work. I would however lean towards a Pico as it has a good track record, small, and easy to operate.

There is a link on the mod thread, Itty bitty Mods for an Eleaf Dual Pico for $17.97 at Vaporbeast. I ordered one and last I checked they still had plenty left. Probably more power than you need but longer battery life with 2 batteries. I'll shoot over and look for the link.

Eleaf Pico Dual Kit Blowout (US) $17.97

Vaporbeast just dropped the price of the Eleaf Pico Dual Kit (includes Melo III Mini Tank) down to $19.97. That’s already a crazy low price, but this deal gets even better when you use coupon code “YEAHBABY” at checkout. That should bring the grand total down to just $17.97! Shipping is FREE when you spend $35 or more, so just buy 2 and you’ll be good to go!

For a topper on the Pico, there are good clear tanks that don't easily burn and don't leak. The Kanger Subtank and Toptank, Vaporesso Estoc and even the Melo can serve well as MTL tanks with some minor adjustments.

    Nautilus for the win:thumbs:

If your not concerned about moving up in terms of power, you can go for any mod that will hit 20 watts. Perhaps the eleaf istick 20 is still about?
You don't have to worry about swapping batteries, just a USB, and the nautilus mini atop is killer, with no worries about rebuilding.

Your mint & menthols will be fine in there (and pretty much any setup depending on vg/pg ratio). Nicotine content will be an issue for looser draw, airier tanks but that doesn't sound like an issue for you to worry about.
Too high a vg mix and you'll get some difficulty wicking sometimes. I think I've personally used 70/30 vg and been fine in that tank. Couldn't comment on anything higher.

I will recommend the Nautilus 2 also... I find that to be a pretty nifty tank for the price for MTL vaping. Getting a larger setup at a low price is fine, as long as you don't mind rechargeable batteries. I run my two battery mod at an all powerful 7 watts, and just enjoy great battery life. There are a lot of MTL tanks that are out there that are excellent, the ego one mega springs to mind also, and there are various options, but I do think the N2 is one of the nicer MTL options out there at the moment....

    Best of luck!

You'd think not? And yet I have, LOL. Maybe my steampunk was getting bored with the same batteries, that's why it started regurgitating them at unexpected moments. Not realizing the steampunk was just pining for a new pair, I have now imprisoned them with a sleeve, LOL. Sorry steampunk, you get new batteries when *I* say you do....

Anna I will see your Steam Punk and raise you a Smoant Gaia. Sorry OP off topic, I'm not an MTL vaper but like Anna and Coastal Cowboy said, the power doesn't matter you can just set it where you want and get a good MTL tank like the Nautilus 2

Our OP here has found long term success with eGo style hardware and has (not unexpectedly, believe me!) lost touch with what's available. Not to say anything against what was mentioned so far, but our OP sounds very much like a set-and- forget vaper.

Who wants to jump in and offer info or recommendations on Pods?

I so know nothing about pods, but have heard some good things recently about the Penguin, but also some issues? That's about all I got. Though, at Bworms1980, that would be a good forum for you to check out for some recommendations.

There are also some more heavy duty all-in-ones nowadays, but again, I haven't had much experience with them. Good luck.

@Bworms1980 are you open to simple explanations of VW gear? Most of the "basic" stuff out there is advanced compared to 4 years ago. I promise it's not much more difficult than "up for hot, down for cool", but it does mean you need to have a rudimentary understanding of WHAT your gear is.

VW settings, as an example, are just a fancy way to tune your vape based on the resistance of your coil. Still an up/down choice in reality.
