With their first foray outside the FPS genre, OpTic Gaming enter the Dota 2 scene by signing The Dire.
The Dire was formed soon after TI7 came to an end by some very well-known names in the Dota 2 world. The NA team features the likes of TI5 winner Peter 'PPD' Dager and TI6 runner-up Rasmus 'MiSeRy' Filipsen amongst others, in a squad that did not look solid at first. However, the team has already found success as they managed to top the group stage of King’s Cup: America, beating South American giants, Infamous before dominating Digital Chaos in the finals to secure a spot at The Summit 8 minor. With that win coming merely a week ago, The Dire have now been signed by OpTic Gaming – a new organization in the Dota 2 world.
OpTic Gaming are an American esports brand who have a huge showing in the FPS gaming genre; which includes teams in many Call of Duty titles, Counter-Strike and Halo. Their acquisition of The Dire will be their first move outside the FPS genre for the organization and it looks to be a great move, considering the way PPD’s team is progressing. The organization made the announcement in a video released yesterday, which can be seen below – alongside an announcement on their website, with a tiny piece of information about each player on the roster, for their fans who are new to the Dota 2 world.
From 10 minutes on you can see the announcement, with a few clips of each player making some of their best plays in the game – as well as a few words from PPD himself. We are extremely excited to see this team and organization move forward and we wish both the best of luck in their future endeavors.
