Police rescue kidnapped tech firm owner, employee
Trichy: Trichy city police have arrested a seven-member gang, including two women, for kidnapping the proprietor and an employee of an online marketing firm here for a ransom of Rs 10 lakh. The police rescued the two while the bank froze the accounts to which the ransom was transferred. Search is on for three more people in this regard.
The police arrested Kalimuthu, Ranjith, Gym Karthik, Saravanan, Ajith, Shanthi and Monisha Banu in Kodaikanal in Dindigul district on Saturday for kidnapping A Abdul Ajees, 32, owner of Alpro tech private limited, and his employee, Manikandan, on Friday.
The gang collected an amount of Rs 9.6 lakhs from the family members of Ajees to release him.
The kidnap came to light when the manager of the company, Sivakumar, lodged a complaint with sessions court police station that Abdul Ajees was missing with his car. The police registered a case of man missing and launched an investigation which led them to Kodaikanal where they found Abdul Ajees and his car near the lake on Saturday. Inquiries revealed that Manikandan was also kidnapped by the gang along with him.
The police later zeroed in on the location of the accused and caught them. Investigations brought to light that three others, Vicky, Venkatesan and Mahendran, were also involved in the kidnap. The police got enough hints when Abdul Ajees asked his manager and his wife to deposit cash in several bank accounts given by him. It has come to light that Mahendran was once a partner of Ajees and was ousted from the company. As Abdul became affluent through his business, Mahendran nursed a grudge against him. The gang came to his office at the behest of Mahendaran and kidnapped the duo at knife point on Friday. The police later altered the case of man missing into one of kidnap.
