Hi everybody, hope you're all doing well. So, I've been vaping, which helped me stop cigarettes permanently, for about 8 months now and I've been using the eleaf iCare since I started. It's a great device, small, cheap, works well, does the job, but I think I want to upgrade to something else. I don't want anything super expensive, or crazy complicated that I need an engineering or computer degree or something to figure out, but something above the level of my current eleaf iCare. I guess this is a pretty vague post, but I'm sure there's someone out there who started with something very basic and wanted to go up a notch.

So, thanks for reading, I'm looking forward to your input/suggestions, and hearing about your experience if you can relate to this.

Do you DTL or MTL?
What size do you want?
Internal battery or external, 1, 2, 3, 4 battery device?
Flavor or cloud or both?

Sorry for all the questions, just helps get you more answers. [emoji106]

Thanks for the response Tonee, and I'll try to answer your questions, but I can't answer all of them because I'm not knowledgable in the lingo of vaping quite yet. As far as size, I prefer something that I can fit in my pants pocket, I don't want some massive contraption that I have to wheel around on a dolly or some ...., haha! I'm not sure about the battery stuff and what all that means. I feel that flavor is really important, as my Eleaf iCare doesn't deliver flavor all too great. I'm not really concerned much about the cloud stuff. I do wish to upgrade to a better device than my Eleaf iCare, but I don't quite wanna go rockstar with it, you know what I mean? Sorry I couldn't answer all your questions.

Could check out:
Kanger Evod Starter Kit (
Could be the best two for one offer out there. You get two complete mods which gives you a back up.
Might want to try the search function in upper right hand corner of this post. Could type in "Evod Starter Kit ".
Authentic Kanger Evod Ecig Starter Kit
Innokin Endura T18 or T20 Starter Kit are also good choices.
I believe you are looking for non sub ohm, MTL, with built in/internal battery vape equipment.

If you want something that you won't have to upgrade (much) later, try the Eleaf Pico 75. It's good for beginners/intermediates but it has some advanced features that you can grow into should you want'em.

Eleaf ECigs, Box Mods and iStick Vape Kits | Central Vapors

You need at least two high drain batteries and a charger.

It has a small, very pocket friendly form factor.

It comes with a very serviceable Melo III tank that takes coils suitable for low wattage, mouth-to-lung (MTL) use or higher wattage coils for direct-lung (DL) hits.

It goes up to 75 Watts, but I use mine very satisfyingly at 30-40 depending on tank, coil and liquid.

Any 510 threaded tank that's 22mm or less will work on it.

It has temperature control capability. TC is an advanced feature that's there for you if you want to try it.

I have five of'em--including a dual battery version that is 200W capable.

I've been vaping since 2013 and I've been through dozens of devices. I've yet to find one for under $50 that's as reliable and versatile as the Pico line.

The Pico has a boatload of users here on ECF, and there's no such thing as a Pico question without an answer here.

I have some (what I call) Nano box mods. The trouble is, they are all internal battery.

An Evic basic for example, which is tiny, makes any of the 'old' 18350 mods seem redundant and the battery life beats a standard 18350. I guess it's all very well to gloat - it depends on how much you paid.

If you can bear the thought of having to throw away a mod after 200/300 charges then there are lots of choices.

Wow, all the replies! First of all, I forgot to mention that when I take a hit I take it right into my lungs, like how I smoked cigarettes, I don't have it chill in my mouth before inhaling. I think that was one of the abbreviations I wasn't sure about, DTL vs. MTL, so I am a "DTL" vaper.

Now, I want to thank the following people for their input and opinions:
Izan, BrotherBob, Coastal Cowboy, Beamslider, Letitia, and djsvapour. You all have given me a lot to look through and learn about. Tonee, thanks for your initial comment, I hope to hear back from you.

Izan: Now that I looked into the Innokin Endura T20, every video I watched they talk about mouth to lung vaping, so I assume this might not be the product for me, as I am a direct to lung vaper. I'm sorry I initially didn't mention that in my original post. I did like the total simplicity of the Innokin Endura T20, definitely up my alley for being straight forward and not complicated. I'm not to fond of the flute/long cyclindrical shape of the product, as I like more compact, more squarish shaped like the Eleaf iCare I've used since quitting smokes (and the only device I've used thus far). I think I would still put this product on the list of possible next device purchase, but if you read this rambling can you tell me what your take is on this product and if it's worth it with my direct to lung style of vaping.

BrotherBob: I am going to have to look into the Kanger Evod Starter Kit, I haven't had the time quite yet to look into that product. And, like I said to Izan, I'm sorry I forgot to mention in my original post that I am a direct to lung vaper, so maybe this affects your recommendation, I'm not sure. I will look into the product you suggested, and just let me know if I shouldn't because I'm not a MTL vaper.

Coastal Cowboy: I looked into the Eleaf Pico 75 and watched some videos on it. It seems like a really great product, especially for the price. I like the compact, square-ish design. I am a little wary though, it seems very involved, like a lot of technical stuff and a lot of details to be aware of, like it might be past my skill and knowledge level of vaping. All those different settings, controlling all these different things, yada yada, I started to feel a little overwhelmed just watching/listening to the stuff they were saying in the videos. If I had someone who's seasoned with this stuff with me and teaching me it in-person I would probably just go ahead and buy it, but on my own I might end up putting in some sort of wrong setting and breaking the thing. I use an Eleaf iCare, and there's not even a button to press, let alone all the other stuff, shoot, a drunk subway rat could probably use one, haha! Let me know if you think I'm going a little overboard being so concerned, or if I may in fact not be ready for something as advanced as that product.

Beamslider: Thanks for your opinion, it's always good to hear about a product from more than one person.

Letitia: Thanks for the comment. I will also look into the Eleaf Pico 25 when I have time. Thank you for the suggestion, I will post when I have had time to read and watch some videos about it. The started to very briefly look into the Eleaf iStick 30W and I'm pretty intrigued, the design looks awesome and it's not too big. I will have to look into that product more as well.

djsvapour: Thanks for the comment. I am not familiar with these Nano box mods that you talked about. Are these easy to use, could a newbie like me understand them? Are they expensive? Is there any particular product you think I should look into as an upgrade to my Eleaf iCare?

Istick 30w might not be enough for dtl vape. 80w ipower would work . The Pico is very easy to operate, as Coastal Cowboy said, the features are there if you want to play with. You don't have to use them. If you want true simplicity look at Smoant Charon Adjustable. I have one and love it.

Agreed.
The Charon is simple as is the Pico.
If you move up past simple then these devices will be great also.

Have you considered the "Penguin"?

I

One small problem. I have a Penguin. You have to feed it 70% PG liquid and even then it gets through coils in about 2-3 days, that's with the battery only half charged.

It's a coil monster. I like animals but it's not so friendly this one.

Shame. I'm considering going 80% PG for the next battle with the wee beastie.

Aye, I've been reducing the flavouring % in my mixes (40%PG) and the coils are lasting a little longer.
I also blocked the intake port with a bit of sticky tape and that seems to help with wicking.
Wife is also trying to release the button before ending her draws to maintain air flow and wicking. progress IS being made.

"Good" coils (.6Ω) last about 14-18 days, so it costs about 1.00 €/$/£ per week to keep SWMBO vaping happily.:banana:

Letitia and Tonee: Thanks for the input, I'm glad to hear that what I thought was so confusing about the Eleaf Pico 75 wasn't really that confusing, meaning that I didn't know that I didn't have to use all those different settings and such, that they're just there in case I do. If I do decide to get this product I'll probably not use a lot of those settings and such until I learn more and get more accustomed to vaping. I will definitely also look into the Smoant Charon Adjustable, as both of you are on the same page regarding it being a potentially good product for me.

Izan and djsvapour: I will have to look more into this product, although I'm glad that both of you touched on a potential downside of this product. Nonetheless, I will still look into it.

classwife: Sorry for posting in the wrong area, I'm not a beginner looking to get started at this point, you're right. I am a beginner on this site, so I'm still learning about the different areas to post. I'll try to post in more appropriate areas in the future, so I appreciate you putting my post in the right area for me, it helps me with the learning process. :)

All of you have been awesome, couldn't be happier with all the help/opinions/input/suggestions you've all given me!

I'll put another vote in for the Pico. Affordable, easy to use, pocket friendly. All my tanks are 22mm or less so the original Pico works great for me, we have 3 of them floating around here. It was the device that got me to purchase an external battery charger and extra batteries, but please research safe battery purchasing and care/handling if you go that route.
