Improving private companies PROFITABILITY while change the world of accounting!

The government’s proposed tax changes started by comparing the tax paid by an employee making $220,000 to the taxes paid by an entrepreneur who used income splitting. The issue with this line of thinking is that comparing simply the tax paid is not taking into account the whole picture. Given the very different protections provided to employees and the risks entrepreneurs take to start a business, I do not think that it is fair to make these equal. #EQUALisNotFair

Thanks for this. What about the EXPORTERS? Isn't that one of objectives? After years of heavy marketing into the USA, I still keep hitting "non-tariff barriers" such as BUY American first. My medical product is head and shoulders above what's in their market now and the line managers want it. When it hits Purchasing, the brakes are on. Hopefully our currency mechanism will adjust for this stupidity. If not, a sale to my American competitor looks more likely leaving my 13 Canadian subcontractors without this project.

A simple equation that seems to escape the Trudeau Gov't. No Entrepreneurs = No small business = No small business jobs

Great article but don't forget the Property tax on the building the business is is if they can afford to borrow money at higher interest rates than an employee buying a house. Payroll taxes. And the risk faced of a market decline in their industry in not just a layoff it could be. Bankruptcy for the business owner. This is just to name a few extra issues not yet mentioned Tax fairness would be better served with a fair pension entitlement for the MPs who will be voting on this as opposed to 5 yrs to get full vesting on their lucrative salaries. Maybe I should sell my business Angela get rid of all the headaches and run to be an MP and get their much better job!

buying freedom seems to contravene to Liberal claims about human freedom and rights "Some slaves could hope to gain their freedom. It was possible mainly for those in a position of saving money, especially those who where involved in wage labor and therefore had some degree of financial autonomy. Slaves who were able to save enough money could buy their freedom by paying their masters an agreed sum. We also know of slaves employed in the army who were granted their freedom as a reward for their service. " "Aristotle wrote that some people were simply born to be slaves, while others were born to rule the slaves, a doctrine known as “natural slavery” (Politics 1, 1253b15–55b40). Slavery, Aristotle said, was a good thing for slaves, for without masters, slaves would not know how to live their lives. He also saw slaves as “animate tools”—pieces of property to be used, with no rights other than those granted by their masters. "

This move will stifle innovation and entrepreneurial endeavors in Canada. But let's face it, very few entrepreneurs voted Liberal. If you have a solid day job punching the clock and put in your time with benefits this won't even be on your radar.
