Heavyweight Cuts is an unassuming barber shop in Detroit’s West Village, but inside it is a hub of ideas, creativity and community. David Hardin Jr. sat with us to tell us his story. We want to hear your stories of elbow grease and getting your hands dirty to help your community. Share your stories with a social post using #RollUpOurSleeves and #Contest for a chance to win a watch. See the rules and contest details here: shino.la/EkJbB

City Year is one of the most robust programs in the City of Detroit and one of the greatest inspirations to us as we #RollUpOurSleeves and help our communities. This education-focused nonprofit places 71 AmeriCorps members in 11 Detroit public schools for one year of full time service to mentor and support students by making real connections. Share your stories of giving back with a post using #RollUpOurSleeves and #Contest for a chance to win a watch. See the rules and contest details here: shino.la/EkJbB

“Detroit is the most important thing in the world to me.” Anna Kohn of Recovery Park Farms shared her story with us about how she saw a problem in her community, and worked to solve it. Her company finds open space in the city to farm and employ people with barriers to employment. We were inspired by Anna to #RollUpOurSleeves and get the job done, and now we want to hear from you. We asked Detroit, how do we #RollUpOurSleeves and give back to our community? They told us their stories, and now we want to hear it from you. Share your story of spotting a problem and getting to work to solve it using the hashtags #RollUpOurSleeves and #Contest. Each week we will select winners to receive a watch of their choice. Restrictions apply. See the rules and contest details here: shino.la/EkJbB

The Downtown Youth Boxing Gym is a standstill in Detroit – something that inspires us to get out in to our own communities and give back every single day. “I had the means to make it happen, so I went for it.” Khalil Sweeney describes how he rolled up his sleeves to get the job done. We want to hear your stories of elbow grease and getting your hands dirty to help your community.
