Label Spotlight: Lou Adler’s Ode Sounds & Visuals

Label Spotlight: Lou Adler’s Ode Sounds & VisualsRock & Roll Hall of Fame honoree, Lou Adler, solidified a long-term extension between his label, Ode Sounds & Visuals, and The Orchard. We are incredibly grateful to have Ode’s vivacious collection as a part of our catalog and are excited to continue sharing its music across the globe in a big way.

A producer of the 1967 Monterey International Pop Festival, Lou Adler has had an incredible career spanning music and film. A man of many talents, Lou is a songwriter, music and film producer, director, talent manager and even a co-owner of staple Los Angeles venue, The Roxy Theatre.

As the sole producer of Tapestry by Carole King which has sold upwards of ten million copies, Adler mastered the art of music and continued into film, discovering and producing records by infamous comedy duo Cheech & Chong, and even directing and producing the 1978 classic Cheech & Chong’s Up In Smoke. Additionally, Adler combined his musical prowess and creative visual style as executive producer of the well known cult classic, The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Label Spotlight: Lou Adler’s Ode Sounds & VisualsAs a team with Ode Sounds & Visuals, The Orchard distributes The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Soundtrack from the Motion Picture) as well as the reimagined rendition released in 2016 titled The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do the Time Warp Again featuring Laverne Cox, Adam Lambert, Victoria Justice, Reeve Carney with a cameo by the legendary Tim Curry.

The Orchard’s relationship with Ode dates back to 2008, and other highly notable Ode projects include a live recording of Tommy performed by the London Symphony Orchestra featuring Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, Rod Stewart, Steve Winwood, Ringo Starr and more, important titles by vocalist Merry Clayton, as well as key releases from  respected guitarist David T. Walker. The Orchard previously supported the reissue of Iconic Performances from the Monterey International Pop Festival on CD, and is planning to release the same title on vinyl in the coming year.

Keep an eye on The Daily Rind, as there are talks of special physical reissues from the Ode team on the horizon in 2018.
