In Ethiopia, GIZ has been working for more than 40 years in bilateral cooperation on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and on the commission of the Ethiopian government and international donors. GIZ Energising Development Ethiopia is looking for a qualified candidate as per the detail below:

Responsibilities:
The advisor is responsible for
· The Energy Advisor for solar market development will support the programme in planning, implementing and monitoring solar market development activities as per the agreed objectives, outputs, milestones and indicators defined in the programme’s implementation plans.
· She/He is responsible to establish, capacitate and build region-wide networks of solar technology value chain actors (producers, BDS providers, distributers, market outlets, suppliers, etc.) from both private and the public sectors
The professional advisor performs the following tasks:
Tasks
1. Advising the partner institution(s)
The advisor
· assists and monitors the development and implementation of project/programme plans and activities in close consultation with counterparts
· contributes to preparing and implementing the coordination process, joint project/programme activities and work at the regional level
· deals with the design, preparation and implementation of workshops, seminars and other events on issues connected with the project/programme’s area of activity
· develops and organises quality assurance measures and suggests necessary changes, improvements and initiatives
· Cooperating with the federal and regional stakeholders, in close coordination with his hierarchy and/or regional offices of the programme
2. Networking and cooperation

§ supports cooperation, regular contact and dialogue with partners, assists with PR work and cooperates with local communities, relevant organisations, non-governmental agencies and individuals in the project/programme environment and with other projects to improve and maintain good working relationships
§ Coordinates market development activities and test equipment for the adoption of overall solar market development strategies;
§ Maintains effective and efficient communication and information exchange between all involved GIZ staff and other institutions
3. Knowledge management

§ ensures knowledge transfer to project/programme information
§ develops ready-to-use strategies and technical concepts, including guidelines, manuals and procedures
§ draws up reports and presentation documents
§ prepares appropriate input for various project/programme reports including annual reports, and contributes to the other reports required by the programme manager and GIZ Head Office
4. Coordination tasks

§ Prepares and implements program/project interventions in result-oriented team efforts
§ Promotes local production, marketing and dissemination of improved energy technologies
§ Prepares and conducts training and other capacity building measures for partners involved collaborating with EnDev Ethiopia team.
§ Facilitates business development services in solar technologies for producers, promoters and marketers.
§ Assists in planning, coordination, and documentation of meetings, workshops, and other project activities focusing on solar market development
§ Prepares and implements program/project interventions in a result-oriented and participatory manner by closely integrating efforts with other teams in EnDev Ethiopia and regional partners;
§ Assists in the recording and writing of results in solar market development
§ Takes part in the formulation of project action plans and facilitates synchronisation between the planning and budgeting system and with other sections;
§ Prepares and conducts training and other capacity building measures for individuals, private solar retailers and companies involved in the dissemination of solar home systems.
§ Assists in the planning, coordination, and documentation of meetings, workshops, seminars and other activities of the project, focusing on the solar technology technical aspects
Qualifications and Experience:
§ Minimum of a BSc degree in solar energy engineering, electrical engineering, electro-mechanical engineering and related field
§ Minimum of five year work experience in solar market development, technical skill on testing of household solar equipment, organise and conducts training to various stakeholders, partners, private sector operators and end users;
§ very good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (Ms. Office, Engineering application software such as AutoCAD, renewable energy system analysis and optimization software)
§ fluent written and oral knowledge of English
§ willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
