Impact revealed they’d be moving to a new location for their Nov. 5 pay-per-view (PPV) at the end of last week. Despite a series of YouTube videos teasing different locations in North America and elsewhere, word quickly came that the show - Bound for Glory - would be headed to Canada, the home country of parent company Anthem Entertainment.
Today (Sept. 18), they confirmed as much, announcing the event will take place in that nation’s capital of Ottawa, Ontario.
More interesting than even moving the venue of a major show a month-and-a-half before it happens is what’s not mentioned. All references to Global Force Wrestling (GFW) have been removed from the ads for Bound for Glory. The promotion just recently relabeled itself GFW, including press releases about Impact acquiring Jeff Jarrett’s brand.
Jarrett departed the company a couple weeks back, however, and word was the Global Force name had not been secured before he was placed on “an indefinite leave of absence”. We’ll have to wait and see what happens with those title belts...
But wait! There’s more!
Jim Cornette was just brought in at the last Impact tapings as the show’s latest on-screen authority figure.
He’s already gone.
Wrestling Observer has confirmed with Cornette and Anthem that the parties have split. The legendary manager and promoter says there are no hard feelings, but as he has legal issues travelling to Canada stemming from fights which occurred in that country - mostly when fans who bought into his heel character attacked him - back in the 80s, it’s not somewhere he can visit freely.
Cornette’s offered to travel to Nashville to film a storyline write-off, but according to Dave Meltzer the company’s not responded and there are no plans to do anything.
But they will be in Aberdeen Pavilion for a PPV and five days of television taping from Nov. 5 - 10!
