This fashionable Chinese bistro chain gets high marks with South Dade's trendier diners, who are all about the contemporary interior and eclectic menu. Start off with do-it-yourself lettuce wraps—these babies alone are worth the trip. Afterwards, go any route you like, from Szechwan or Hunan to Cantonese or Shanghai. Ask for the orange peel chicken, or maybe the kung pao shrimp is more your speed. P.F. Chang's daily specials are always worth considering as well. This popular chain is never not busy, but happy hours and weekend evenings here tend to be especially popular, so plan accordingly as the waits may take a while.
Recommended for Chinese because: While P.F. Chang's is a chain, it's still got the right chops to impress as far as Chinese cuisine is concerned.
Priscilla's expert tip: They've got a rewards system. Make sure to sign up for freebies!
Located in the prestigious Setai Hotel, this expansive restaurant is situated around an open kitchen and bar and outfitted with high ceilings, neutral tones and striking Asian decor. Patrons may also dine in the serene courtyard, surrounded by lovely ponds and pergolas. Executive chef Mathias Gervais, who has trained with some of the world's best, prepares some of the most interesting and authentically flavored pan-Asian dishes in the city. Don't miss chawan mushi, an awesomely silky Japanese egg custard with bits of asparagus, shiitake and hon shimeji mushrooms, and tofu, flavored with yuzu zest. Or incredible steamed scallop dumplings with black truffle emulsion. Or miso black cod with daikon consomme, flavored with yuzu and the pepper mixture ishimi togarashi. The Chinese barbecue pork belly with ginger-carrot mousseline is succulent and crispy, all at once, and the grilled Wagyu strip loin lives up to its pedigree with a soy-olive oil gravy.
Recommended for Chinese because: While Jaya is more of an Asian-fusion restaurant, its menu features some much beloved dumplings and fried rice that keep folks coming back.
Priscilla's expert tip: Make reservations for Sunday's Jazz brunch from 11:30-3pm to get the best seats.
First opened in 2003, Chifa Du Kang offers what may at first appear like a bizarre combination: Chinese Peruvian cuisine. However, years ago Peru experienced an influx of Chinese immigrants and these new citizens mixed their traditional dishes with the Peruvian meals to create one of a kind cuisine that one can't experience anywhere else. The two culinary schools of thought complement one another so well, that you wouldn't believe that two different cultures on two different continents could create such a harmonious display of culinary art. Aside from the delightful menu that includes chaufas alongside wonton soup, the ambiance here is ideal for a nice family meal.
Recommended for Chinese because: While not entirely Chinese, Chifa Du Kang offers a unique culinary experience that you won't find in most places—and one that you're sure to enjoy.
Priscilla's expert tip: Make sure to explore the menu and dive into items you might not normally find at other Chinese restaurants.
In business since 1991 and located at the rear of the hotel lobby, overlooking the Sealine Marina, this elegant Chinese establishment has earned a solid reputation for its attentive tableside service, white tablecoth-and-fresh-flower decor, and consistently excellent Hong Kong-style Cantonese cuisine. On one side, you have a view of the sunken kitchen sealed by a glass wall, where you can watch the expert chefs whip up masterful concoctions. On the other side of the open, airy dining room, you get sprawling views of Biscayne Bay and the Venetian Isles. Hand-carved Peking duck is some of the best in the city, and noodle dishes, whether served sauteed with proteins or steaming with prawns or fish in casseroles, are aromatic and freshly prepared. A sushi bar and a full liquor are also both available, just right for pescaterians, vegetarians and, well, those who like a glass of wine with their Chinese food.
Recommended for Chinese because: Tony Chan's is one of the ritzier Chinese establishments in town, with great cuisine and gorgeous views to boot—making it a 10 Best favorite.
Priscilla's expert tip: Romantic bay views and duck recipes set hearts and appetites aflutter.
As far as New York-style Chinese food goes, Gar Sing's is certainly one of the very best around. The restaurant itself is small, though simultaneously spacious for a take-out joint, offering a number of tables for dining in. Service, whether you grab and go or take a seat, is top notch. So much so that there's often a chance at snagging a free egg roll at any point from the owners. That certainly adds to the experience. But wait, what about the food? They've got it all: beef lo mein, pot stickers, egg drop soup, honey garlic wings...Patrons love it all, especially because according to many, the ingredients are always incredibly fresh. So yeah, fresh Chinese cuisine that's inexpensive and tasty? Don't mind if we do.
Recommended for Chinese because: Friendly service, surprisingly fresh ingredients, and low prices are all excellent reasons why Gar Sing is a must have on our list.
Priscilla's expert tip: If you're unsure about what to eat, feel free to ask the owners for their thoughts. They're often happy to steer you in the right direction depending on your palate.
Blackbrick is the self-described passion project of Chef Richard Hales. Locals may know Hales as the owner of the popular Korean-fusion hotspot Sakaya Kitchen. Where Sakaya is known for fun dishes like the KFC Korean fried chicken) and bao buns, Blackbrick has earned a reputation for fantastic dim sum. Among the options at this modern Chinese establishment are pork sui mei, maine lobster dumplings, edamame dumplings, pan fried veggie bao buns, jade peking duck dumplings and more. Other worthy dishes on the menu are the dandan mian, orange peel crispy beef, and asian eggplant. Vegetarians and vegans will be happy to find an extensive array of foods to choose from, as many non-veg dishes can be made vegan. Come by for their Chinese brunch (one of the few in town), and sit at one of their tables featuring the work of local artist Ahol Sniffs Glue, or simply hang at the bar and admire the portraits of Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris. It's all good here.
Recommended for Chinese because: Fans of Sakaya have been raving about this joint forever, and considering the original and varied menu, it's not hard to see why.
Priscilla's expert tip: Don't forget to try the vanilla custard bun!
When you're looking for authentic, no-fuss, authentic Chinese dumplings, Dumpling King is surely where it's at. Hidden away inside a North Miami Beach strip mall, this intimate shop has developed quite a loyal following over the past few years. Some folks come for the strawberry green boba tea or to snack on scallion pancakes, but the real winners here are the soup dumplings. Filled with piping hot soup and chunks of pork, these fluffy morsels are worth the trip. That said, they've also got some tasty noodle dishes, fried rice platters, and even more dumplings—which can be enjoyed fried, steamed, or boiled.
Recommended for Chinese because: Completely legit soup dumplings in Miami are the unicorn of the local Chinese restaurant business. You can't ignore their power over this list.
Priscilla's expert tip: If it's your first time having soup dumplings, start by biting off the top and slowly drink in the soup hiding inside.
Gourmet Gourmet is a family-owned operation known for serving up generous portions of delectable Chinese cuisine. Word is Chef Jose Sang has been cooking up mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken, and other such dishes over more than two decades. Patrons of this take-out spot gush over the flavors of Chef Sang's sauces, from the honey garlic to the hunan. Those who aren't big on spice will want to request for meals like the curry chicken to be prepared mild, but those who can stand the heat will certainly be pleased. Overall, Gourmet Gourmet is among the best Chinese places to order delivery from thanks to low prices, quality ingredients, and fast service.
Recommended for Chinese because: Few Chinese restaurant chefs have been working as long as Chef Sang, and it shows through his work with Gourmet Gourmet.
Priscilla's expert tip: If you're stuck on what to order, opt for the Singapore noodles—truly a must.
The Zagat Rated, AAA Four Diamond Award Winning restaurant Hakkasan has much to brag about. This gem inside the world-renowned Fontainbleau Hotel on Miami Beach is known for its unique and authentic Cantonese dishes, including a weekend Dim Sum Lunch that high-rolling locals are raving about. Chef de Cuisine Jian Heng Loo has created incredibly delectable dishes including a Black Pepper Beef Tenderloin and a Crispy Duck Salad with Jasmine Tea-Smoked Ribs. Once seated inside this aesthetically divine restaurant, peruse the menu and pick out an appetizer (wild mushroom lettuce wrap, duck roll) for starters; then move on to your main dish (wok baked lobster in supreme stock, tofu claypot in black bean sauce); and wash it down with one of their inspired cocktails (the Hakka, Zen Garden).
Recommended for Chinese because: No one does Chinese in Miami the way Hakkasan does. This high-end culinary institution continuously impresses with chic ambiance and, more importantly, unbeatable flavors.
Priscilla's expert tip: For the best deal, check out their prix fixe menus, including a vegetarian dim sum and a summer tastings menu!
Find Chinese cuisine at its best at this spacious, airy restaurant. Devoid of all the typical decorative trappings, the minimalist interior at Tropical Chinese is always full of fans clamoring for some of the best dim sum in town. Cantonese and Mandarin dishes are specialties, and the menu is dotted with unexpected items ranging from early leaves of snow pea pods to fried chicken feet. You'll also find plenty of traditional favorites, including orange chicken, seafood stir-fries, and numerous savory beef and pork dishes. Try the dim sum lunch for a sampling of the best the restaurant has to offer. Reservations accepted.
Recommended for Chinese because: Tropical Chinese is coming up on 33 years of serving delicious push cart dim sum, and has clearly become Miami's favorite go-to.
Priscilla's expert tip: Word of warning: This restaurant is across the street from Tropical Park and the roads get especially crowded around rush hour and in the evenings in December when folks are rushing to Santa's Enchanted Forest inside the park.
