Yesterday I found myself in the odd position of wanting to buy some batteries. I mean, I have batteries. I got batteries out the wazoo. I have a dozen or more solo batteries, plus (I think) 6 married pairs and (I know) 4 married triple sets. I also have batteries in the various convenience mods I keep stashed in various convenient locations, plus the Vapocalypse stash, plus spares at work and in the car, etc; and my woman has 4, or maybe 8, 25Rs I wrapped in pink skins for her "no-nic, dessert-flavor-without-calories" tootle puffer.

But I have somehow managed to back myself into a corner where the current rotation is 7 one-battery tube mechs and the go-to-work bag also has two one-battery mods, a regulated and a mech. So, while not out of batteries, I decided I needed some more solos. I have about all I've got in use with no spares "resting" in the box after coming out of the charger.

Being a mekkie mostly, I wanted some HD2Cs or some VTC5As. I keep 20A batteries in the married pairs for the battery life, but I like the thicker safety margin in the solos. I went to RTDVapor, my go-to source, to price them before checking out the usual suspects-- Orb, Liion, Illumn, etc-- to see who had what on sale. At RTD I found the HD2Cs on sale for fiddy cent off list and looked no farther. I clicked add to cart, qty 4, and paid up. Didn't look anywhere else, or even check the price on the Sonys.

But no sooner had I closed the window than I remembered RTD is also the place where I buy my favorite 4 x 18650 safety cases, and I wanted one for the new batteries even though RTD gives a free 2 cell case with each pair you buy. I keep married pairs in 2 cell boxes, but my solos I like in 4 place ones as it's easier to tell them apart and to rotate them after they come off the charger.

So I went back to RTD and bought a box, paying shipping of about double the price of the box. RTD does a flat rate of 3 bucks for first class mail. I had already paid shipping when I bought the cells, and thought about sending an email and asking them to combine shipments and refund my shipping fee on the second order. But it was late, and I was tired, and I really couldn't see asking them to work extra hard to correct my own screwup and especially not for three dollars.

This morning about 9AM, I got an email from Paypal informing me one of my transactions had been partially refunded; shortly followed by about 6 automated emails from RTD changing the status of my orders by combining them into one and refunding me the second shipping fee. By 9:30 I had the email saying the order shipped, at least to the point I got a tracking number. And all of this without a word from me. Somebody was paying attention and did what I wanted done without my even asking.

That's good customer service, folks. I appreciate it.

^ Good to hear.

It's the small things.
I guess I'm biased but it seems that vape gear sellers seem to be made up of a lot more helpful, friendly, easygoing group. Good stuff.

I walked into a shop that I have purchased from on maybe four? occasions.
I needed some coils (I know, it was a one off thing) waste of money but I didn't have any cash on me so she gave me a couple and said pay when your next in.
I like that.

I have yet to buy a vape battery, but I'll remember this. Glad you got taken care of.
By all means, carefully read the "trusted vendors" section of Mooch's chart and place your business there. Batteries are too expensive and too dangerous to risk counterfeits. I have, over the years, done business with all the vendors I mentioned in my top post-- people are out of stock sometimes, or have sales-- and all of them are on the list. I have no complaints with any of them. But I keep going back to RTD. Good service, fair prices and quick ship. The free box with a pair is merely icing :)

It amazes me that more companies don't realize the value of good customer service. What happened to you wasn't really that big a deal, only taking a few minutes to actually do the work. But look at the free advertising they are getting here. And guess what was the first thing I did after reading your post? I logged on to RTD and now I'm going to go see if have something I need. The little things do count.

I had OSDIY do that once on a flavoring order. I completed on medium sized and realized I forgot 2 things. Ordered them like a half an hour later and accepted the extra few dollars of a second order as my own fault. They were nice enough to bundle them as well into one order on their own. It's always nice to deal with companies that are looking out for you.

It is nice. Good customer service counts for a lot from me. I managed to mess up two orders to IMRbatteries (long story) but they refunded my shipping from shipping to the wrong address (I told them I would pay it :) And they contacted met to let me know when my order returned, so I could purchase the order again. They always include battery cases in their orders, and this time around sent free wraps. I appreciated the nod to battery safety, and they are fast and reliable. I won't buy batteries elsewhere, and that is mainly due to their awesome customer service.... Sometimes it totally is the small things and knowing a company has the time, and energy, to work with you on an order, or notice two orders came in together from the same person, etc.

Yay! :)

Agree wholeheartedly. Put together a small coop for a few of us badly needing reliable fresh batt's in advance of Irma. Crew made sure to rush the order out, upgraded ship and did this impressive job of securing their efficient packaging in case it got caught up in the storm. Really outstanding service…

A nod here too for RTD whose consistent quality and responsive performance deserves much recognition here.

Good luck. :)

Weird, just got an over in today from RTD, four AW 18650 cells, no cases...did they stop sending cases with their cells, or was my order an anomaly?
I would guess an anomaly. When mine came in the cells were in two 2-cell boxes, and they also shipped an empty 4-cell box. They could have as easily loaded the cells into the box I paid for... I'll bet if you email and tell them you didn't get the boxes they'd send some. Or I will, since I now have spares :)
