Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi seems to have confirmed the runtime of his upcoming film, while also hilariously taking down a rumor. In just a few more months, Marvel's third and final film of the year will arrive. From the trailers and other promotional material so far, it's clear Ragnarok will be every bit as funny as it is action-packed and colorful. Thanks to Waititi's idiosyncratic sensibilities, the new take on Thor and Hulk will help create a film just as unique as Guardians of the Galaxy was when it first landed in theaters.

As fans await the release of both Thor: Ragnarok and a second full-length trailer for the film, Marvel has continued to promote the upcoming blockbuster. A recent TV spot highlighted Doctor Strange's role in the movie, carrying over from the end credits scene in Doctor Strange and teasing one of the pairings we're likely to see in next year's Avengers: Infinity War. Meanwhile, the latest round of images from the film tease the movie's fantastical aesthetic and hint at a massive Hulk-themed parade. Now, it looks like we know the current runtime of the movie.

Taika Waititi took to Twitter in order to respond to a rumor from a fan account stating Thor: Ragnarok will be 2 hours and 10 minutes. The director's response was not only a comical way to debunk the report, but it may also serve as confirmation of the film's actual length.

Rather than Thor: Ragnarok clocking in at 130 minutes, Waititi looks to have confirmed it will actually only be an hour and half. The remaining 40 minutes, he states, will be reserved for an end credits sequence that would put the one in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to shame if they were real. Interestingly, Waititi's claim that Ragnarok will only be 90 minutes long is just shy of what the director said about the film's length last month.

Of course, it's always possible Waititi's response was a playful way to confirm 2 hours and 10 minutes is the true length of the film. While that would be 30 minutes over the stated runtime from a month ago, it would still be well within the normal range for a blockbuster film. Still, it seems clear that 90–100 minutes will be the final length of Ragnarok, making it Marvel's shortest movie yet.

While Ragnarok certainly sets up plenty of new plots, characters, and conflicts, it's easy to see how the film's narrative will unfold. As such, it's not hard to imagine Waititi's movie being a streamlined and straightforward affair. That said, the film's heavy use of improv means fans will be in store for a home video release with plenty of deleted scenes and a massive gag reel. With Thor: Ragnarok debuting in less than two and a half months, we won't have to wait much longer to know the true runtime of the film.
