Introduction
Norwegian Church Aid has signed partnership agreement with the United Nation Population Fund (UNFPA) for the project entitled: “Accelerating Action to ensure the wellbeing of Adolescent girls”. The overall goal of the project is to establish safe spaces for adolescent girls’ aged 10-19 to be protected from any form of practices that can harm their wellbeing. NCA Ethiopia and Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus- Development and Social Services Commission (EECMY-DASSC) East Gambella Bethel Synod will implement the project through the support of UNFPA. The project is planned to be implemented at three woredas of Gambella region namely Gambella town, Gambela Zuria and Gog woredas of Anuak Zone. There are 35 kebeles found in the three intervention woredas having a total population of 94,329.
Prior to the project implementation, NCA planned to commission a consultant to undertake community assessment/mapping in the intervention areas.
Purpose of the Assignment
The main purpose of the assessment is to assess the resources that are available in the community and identify the potential problems or risks that the adolescent girls may face including sexual and reproductive health issues. It will help to identify physical structures, organizations, and institutions that can be utilized to reinforce the wellbeing of adolescent girls. The assessment will serve as a baseline for the project implementation and future programing and provide context based evidence on the type and extent of problems that affects the wellbeing of adolescents. Based on the findings of the assessment, key recommendations are expected to be identified for better programming.
