The Streamy Awards has tapped one of YouTube’s own to host the annual celebration of shortform video ad digital media stars.
Musician and comedian Jon Cozart will preside over the show, which will stream live on Twitter on Sept. 26.
Cozart rose to YouTube fame for his comedic musical videos on his channel, called Paint. His most popular video, “After Ever After,” tells the story of Disney princesses after their films have ended. The four-year-old video has 73 million views. All told, Cozart has 4 million YouTube subscribers and 364 million lifetime video views. He has parlayed his online success into offline projects, including a one-man show performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2015.
“I’d say me hosting this year goes along with everything else happening in 2017,” Cozart said in a statement. “So, like, poor decisions all around, but I guess I’m happy about it.”
Joining Cozart on stage for the show will be a number of presenters from the YouTube world. They include Connor Franta, Gigi Gorgeous, Mamrie Hart, Grace Helbig, Liza Koshy, Tyler Oakley, Lilly Singh and The Try Guys.
The Streamy Awards, which is heading into its seventh year, has grown considerably since its first show in 2009 at the Wadsworth Theatre. Last year, the show live streamed on YouTube and received 750,000 views.
The Streamys will stream live from the Beverly Hilton on Twitter beginning at 9:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
