Plan International Ethiopia is looking for Economic Empowerment Coordinator to be based at Country Office.
The Role
Plan is seeking applicants for Economic Empowerment Coordinator for the USAID-funded Transform WASH project in Ethiopia led by Population Services International (PSI). The Economic Empowerment Coordinator will be in charge of overseeing Community Managed Village Saving and Loan schemes to increase availability of financing for WASH products and services.
Major responsibilities of the position holder will be:
Manage the Transform WASH Economic Empowerment budget at the CO level;
Lead the development of an evidenced-based VSLA methodology based on target communities’ interests.
Coordinate and lead the planning, implementation and reporting of the VSLA component of the Transform WASH Project – increasing the availability of financing for improved WASH products and services in Amhara, Oromia, Tigray and SNNPR;
Ensures integration as well as smooth teamwork within and across other country programs at the CO. Key components of the position also include regional advocacy and networking, strategic thematic area planning, developing and strengthening partnerships and mainstreaming of child centered community development in Transform WASH project;
Utilize Plan International Ethiopia’s well established and documented working relationship with the GOE, Cooperative Promotion Bureaus, Development Agents and strong reputation on VSLA that focuses on community based financing mechanisms.
Build the technical Capacity of the district office, Kebele and VSLA volunteers / facilitators, using proven approaches;
The post holder will support the management of project activities and supervises the project facilitators on savings and use of funds at the community level;
The post holder is responsible to manage project design, planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation.
She/he will ensure a smooth working environment and teamwork within Plan International Ethiopia, the respective field staff and across the Transform WASH partners;
Key components of the position include operationalization of the Economic Empowerment activities / VSLA project activities under Plan International Ethiopia’s role;
Responsible for project design, overseeing implementation and monitoring while ensuring quality program delivery of the overall Transform WASH economic empowerment related country program activities.
The Person
To be successful, applicants need to have a Bachelor’s Degree or above in Economics, Rural development, Agriculture, Development studies and other related fields with at least 5 years relevant experience of which at least two years’ experience should be with NGOs. He/She should demonstrate experience in the management of Livelihood and Economic Empowerment related projects.

Understanding of integrated development issues, participatory approaches to development, child-rights programming, participatory Monitoring, Evaluation and Research systems and processes preferred
Working experience with USAID funded WASH projects advantageous
