Jacob G. Hornberger is founder and president of The Future of Freedom Foundation (FFF). FFF's mission is to advance freedom by providing an uncompromising moral and economic case for individual liberty, free markets, private property, and limited government.

Mr. Hornberger was born and raised in Laredo, Texas, and received his B.A. in economics from Virginia Military Institute and his law degree from the University of Texas. He was a trial attorney for twelve years in Texas. He also was an adjunct professor at the University of Dallas, where he taught law and economics. In 1987, Mr. Hornberger left the practice of law to become director of programs at The Foundation for Economic Education, publisher of The Freeman.

In 1989, Mr. Hornberger established The Future of Freedom Foundation. He is a regular writer for FFF's monthly journal Future of Freedom, writes a daily blog, and other commentaries. His editorials have appeared in the Washington Post, Charlotte Observer, La Presna San Diego, El Nuevo Miami Herald, and many others, both in the United States and in Latin America.

Mr. Hornberger has delivered speeches and engaged in debates about free-market principles with groups all over the United States, as well as Canada, England, Europe, and Latin America, including Brazil, Cuba, Bolivia, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Argentina.

He has also advanced freedom and free markets on talk-radio stations all across the country as well as on Fox News' Neil Cavuto and Greta van Susteren shows. He appeared regularly as a commentator on Fox News' legal commentator Judge Andrew Napolitano's Internet-based show Freedom Watch.

Mr. Hornberger is co-editor of five books that have been published by The Future of Freedom Foundation (www.fff.org) and author of The Kennedy Autopsy, Regime Change, and The CIA, Terrorism, and the Cold War: The Evil of the National Security State.

    Jacob G. Hornberger’s latest book is a comprehensive and authoritative indictment of the criminal national security state that has seized control of the American republic, destroying the rule of law and our most fundamental rights and liberties in this process. His central driving point throughout his powerful exposition is how the nebulous and amoral concept of “national security” has been justified as a nihilistic rationale for unspeakable criminal behavior by the governing elites and their subterranean operatives within this deep state. "Everything is permitted, the end justifies the means."

    Hornberger brilliantly amasses the conclusive historical evidence outlining the destructive course of this dark transformation, beginning with American imperial adventurism during the Spanish-American War in Cuba and the Philippines, demonstrating that the technics of torture, invasive surveillance, assassination, counter-insurgency, which we are painfully accustomed to reading about in today’s headlines, began over one hundred years ago. He continues his painstaking exploration of the subversive criminality of the national security state with its formal inception after World War II, with the National Security Act of 1947, which reorganized the military-industrial complex and established the Central Intelligence Agency as the premier covert entity for regime change and projection of American state power. Thus was spawned the clandestine deep state which has unconstitutionally superseded and overtaken in power, permanence and scope the reign of governance.

    While books like this do a fair job of cataloging the senseless death and destruction the perfidious CIA spreads around the world, I often find the author lacks the imagination to plumb the depths of evil necessary to achieve a clear understanding of his subject. For instance, the selection and grooming of Oswald as the designated pasty makes it clear that war with Russia was very much the intended outcome for the original plotters. That it didn't happen shows that they lost control of events as they so often do.
    Also, the author subscribes to the "blowback" theory of 9/11 which is a bit naive given what else he accepts that the CIA has done.
    I encountered new facts in this book and I'm certain most readers will too.

    My personal studies of the historical record of the U.S. since JFK and RFK were serially assassinated attest to the absolute accuracy of each and every factual conclusion set forth in Jacob Hornberger’s exquisite 'The CIA, Terrorism, and the Cold War: The Evil of the National Security State."
    This book is so simple and straight forward and easy to read.
    Mr. Hornberger presents an accurate summary of the state of the JFK assassination story 50 years subsequent. Those who refuse to confront that reality have their heads in the sand.
    The maddening thing is all the proofs and clear evidence that were not cited in support of each thesis. For example, that Oswald was not a Communist; that Oswald was not pro-Castro; that Oswald was a patriot working for the U.S. intelligence services; that Oswald was a false flag defector to Russia; that Oswald faked his Communist sympathies to infiltrate and disinform; and that Oswald was clearly the perfect patsy; Oswald was not on the Sixth Floor at the time of the shooting; Oswald did not order the supposed assassination rifle; the ballistics do not tie the supposed assassination rifle to the crime; Oswald fired no shots; Oswald was on the steps of the TSBDB seconds after the shooting where he confronted Officer Baker, and early documentation of the DPD and the FBI confirm Oswald's alibi. But in this case, less is more.

    JFK was the gravest threat to “U.S. national security” in history:
    1. JFK took the military’s hand off the nuclear button, substituting civilian control at every point of command, even the cockpit’s of the nation’s Air Force;
    2. JFK ignored and rebutted the military’s recommendations on how to secure the U.S.;
    3. JFK opposed nuclear arms for Israel;
    4. JFK supported a Communist coalition government in Laos;
    5. JFK accepted a Communist government in IndoChina
    6. JFK supported African nationalism in the Belgian Congo, and was willing to allow the valuable natural resources in the Congo to fall out of friendly hands;
    7. JFK refused to confront and stop the Soviets building the Berlin Wall;
    8. JFK refused to provide U.S. military forces to save the Bay of Pigs invasion;
    9. JFK repeatedly refused to invade Cuba;
    10. JFK refused to strike missile construction in Cuba;
    11. JFK pledged not to invade Cuba and removed missiles from Turkey to settle the Cuban Missile Crisis;
    12. JFK was accepting peaceful co-existence with a communist nation 90 miles off the coast of the U.S.
    13. JFK refused U.S. combat troops in Viet Nam no less than 11 times in a single year;
    14. JFK supported and executed the nuclear test ban treaty;
    15. JFK advocated unilateral disarmament to equalize the great power balance of power;
    16. JFK had ordered withdrawal of U.S. advisors from Viet Nam;
    17. JFK offered to share with the Soviets U.S. superior targeting technology in exchange for superior Soviet booster technology in proposing joint development of space;
    18. JFK was secretly settling and ending the Cold War with Khruschev and Castro;
    19. JFK was viewed as a traitor by military chiefs and America’s foreign policy wisemen – the Cold Warriors.
    Until Mr. Hornberger’s truth, that is, the truth, is taught in the Nation’s Military Academies, America remains destined to a pretentious ignorance that both defines and limits.

No, it doesn't answer all the questions, but it does provide a lot of good information and thoughtful commentary on why we are where we are at this time, and why things just don't seem to ever get better. I highly recommend reading the book, and maybe re-reading to glean even more information.

    Just in case you are hesitating about reading this book, or like me until just now, you still don’t get “it” (as in understand the truth), even after you finish reading it… and I wouldn’t blame you, since I have read hundreds of books on the subject and still didn’t have my “aha” moment until just now after finishing this masterpiece…

    Spoiler alert….

    National security does not mean the security or wellbeing or longevity of the nation or national politic. It literally means the “National Security” corporation entity which took over the government de jure after World War II. In the interests of National Security is therefore not to secure the existence of the one nation under God, but to preserve the interests of the “National Security” state.

    It naturally follows then that assassinating a President, experimenting on citizenry, scamming and robbing workers at every pay cheque, and restricting 2nd amendment rights, are clearly only in the interests of protecting the government de facto, which is not of, by and for the people, but an imposter government which operates as a for-profit foreign corporation.

    So when you think about it, why would an imposter let you keep your guns or your money? Surely once the game is up and they are exposed as being imposters, we would certainly use our weapons and money against them, wouldn’t we? Surely an imposter would lie to us at every turn, not to be found out, yes? And most surely they would use our own sons and daughters to furnish a standing army to be used not only to pillage other countries at our blood and treasure expense, but eventually use them against us when it all finally hits the fan!

    So stop wondering why Washington is messed up. Once you read this book you will finally understand that they are behaving exactly rationally. It is we who are irrational, thinking by repeating the same formula of voting and funding these mugs, that they will start acting in our interests. They never will! They don’t work for us. We just pay then. Let me say that again. They don’t work for us. They work for the US govt corporation. We are just the ones paying their salaries and for their perks. That’s it. It’s like when the cardinals vote for a pope. Suddenly one of their equals becomes their ruler by “divine” authority, and no matter how many items he is replaced, the new bloke is elevated in exactly the same way. It is the nature of the beast.

    Please read this book and wake up. We lost our nations long ago, but the fact that the transition is being made covertly means that it has to go along slow enough to remain below mass perception at large. We can use this to our advantage by waking up before it is too late, and saving our own families and neighbours if no one else. The sooner we really understand what is addressed in this book, and why JFK, Oswald (a true American hero and martyr when you discover the truth), and many others had to die, the sooner we will be awake and able to protect ourselves and our future freedoms.

    I don’t know about you, but I don’t do much good fighting and defending while I am asleep, no matter who the enemy is. Their operation is to keep us that way as we let the fight for our future freedoms dissipate away into a toothless technocratic indentured slavery that awaits us. Today is the day to stand up!

    God bless you, Jacob Hornberger! For men have not revealed this wisdom to you, but the Holy Spirit for such a time as this. I pray that you will remain as courageous as you have been, as the attacks against our future freedoms ramp up, as they surely will, as they days quickly count down to the return of Jesus.
